Thai deliberate charges. It's too obvious to all else that it's attempted murder, but Thais need to deliberate. Thais love to deliberate and put off doing the right thing.

Give It a break.  That happens In all countries, not exclusively Thailand.

The articvle says, "He Is believed to have doused his wife In thinners."  Police are checlking CCTV to verify.

If he already had the thinners with him it was a premeditated attack.

He should be jailed for a long time if it is true.

Evil plain evil to do such a thing.

Somchai just came back from hardware store, so he will just be fined 200 Baht.

Name one country in the world where the police don't investigate incidents before laying charges? No didn't think so.

i am anti death penalty but i believe in  'do unto others as they do unto you'.  there fore she should be allowed to light him up.  something needs to be done to stop these crimes of passion. on the contrary in thailand passion seems to be used as an excuse for these crimes.

Jealousy and possessiveness are not passion.

They are it's antithesis.

He has a wheelbarrow of money?

If he is that wealthy, why is his wife working at the Marriot Hotel? Or does he own the hotel?

You didn't recognize Mr. Somchai Marriott?

He may have been a painter and decorator

Read an article like this one and you just know with a deadly predictability what kind of responses you're going to get.  A bunch of inflated egotesticle asses braying about such imbecilities as "no wonder Thai women preferred farangs." (The overwhelming majority of Thai women marry Thai men and are just fine thank you.)

Then comes the ignorant extrapolation of one Thai male's behavior to the entire Thai male population, including asinine observations about the "Thai male ego."  In spite of the fact that this "white man's burden" bullshit went extinct at least a century ago.

And some of these ramblings come from senior members of this forum. Jesus <deleted> Christ man, you think by now you would have headed back home if that's the way you feel. But then again maybe you're stuck here. Either in a dead end job that you hate or married into a family you now despise.  Time to grow a pair, head back to Blighty or wherever tf it is you hail from.

 Pathetic. Simply pathetic.

Then comes the holier than thou defender of all Thais, Farangman, dropping witty kryptonite like "egotesticle" to once again right all of the world's wrongs.

Sorry bro, you're just part of the predictable chain.

agreed but these sorts of matters are still refereed to as crimes of passion.

Mostly because the person gets caught up in a mental closed circuit and acts impulsively.  According to Wikipedia:

A crime of passion, or crime passionnel (from French), in popular usage, refers to a violent crime, especially homicide, in which the perpetrator commits the act against someone because of sudden strong impulse such as sudden rage rather than as a premeditated crime.

It doesn't mention actual passion.

The fact this creature had the paint thinner ready suggests there was no sudden urge...

Read an article like this and you just know with a deadly predictability that you are going to get an apologist/it could happen anywhere/it's worse in America/an isolated incident/blah blah blah...

Suggests, though does not prove.  Not trying to defend the guy in any way.  He's deplorable.  However, he could have had the thinner in the car for other reasons.  It's a totally different analysis if he also had a few cans of paint in the car too, no?

I know what I think happened...

As I said earlier, shame someone put his flames out.

This pathetic, pea brained oxygen thief should have his oxygen supply turned off. :post-4641-1156693976:

".. before deciding what charges to lay in the case." Really? How about attempted murder, for a starter?

May Sophitta have a full and quick recovery.

Many in Bangkok. Seen an visited and purchase a lot from them. Some very beautiful wallpapers in Thailand and not too expensive. But I do understand the gist of what you are saying

If I had said he was a painter some people may have thought he was a water colour artist, in which case he would not have needed the thinners

I have never even seen wallpaper in anyones house here in Thailand, same applies to carpets.

maybe not but there are plenty of painters and decorators here that do marbling, aging  and paint effects such as Trompe-l'œil  which is still decorating, And as stated by Callaway in a previous post there are plenty of wallpaper shops in bkk. Anyway my point here is that you don't need to hang wallpaper to be a decorator

Both were taken to hospital with multiple burns

One should've gone to the hospital, the other the dump! Some Thai males really do struggle with real or perceived rejection, don't they. If you have a philandering lady, you drop her like a hot brick (metaphorically) and move on. If some dude makes a move on your lady, you knock him out. If you're a complete and utter loser and it is all in your head, you off yourself and save the rest of humanity. pfft!

hey, let's not go overboard here.

This is thailand, it's not like he posted an offensive comment on facebook or something serious like that.

Charges what charges, just a domestic dispute.

Yes, after all it was just a woman, it is not like they count in Thailand.

I will never understand why men (or women for that matter) get their shorts in a twist when their partner is found messing with the opposite sex.  Really, if your partner is not interested in you then why do you care to be with them any longer and therefore what's the purpose of revenge?  If this guy had evidence the wife was doing the extramarital sideshow then he has a legit reason to dump her or a great excuse to do the same.  Now his ego and lack of self control has screwed up both their lives.
