Cooked Cats Are Causing Chaos

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but for the meat vendors along National Road 6 in Kampong Cham province’s Bantheay district, a picture of their stock posted on Facebook cost them $100. “The district officials came and they confiscated all our meat because they said it was socially disruptive,” said 55-year-old vendor Srey Mach, who did not want to give her real name.
 

The picture, posted by a Khmer Times photographer, featured three dead cats, cooked and charred, hanging by meat hooks on the side of the road waiting to be sold. The vendors also sell a variety of wild birds, frogs and fish from the surrounding area.
 

The selling of wild birds is illegal according to forestry law, however the vendors said the authorities specifically confiscated their meat because of the cats they were selling.   Ms. Mach sits at her stall surrounded by her neighbors, all wary to talk. Trucks roar past as she shows us a list of vendors who met with the district governor.

As long as people like it and stay healthy... eat them.

I am surprised the authorities actually took actions to stop them selling cat meat. That's a good step towards civilized society.

It's time to stop eating wild animals, birds, snakes. etc., not unless you are starving.

Drinking snake blood not going to make you strong and healthy, it's a myth. Most Cambodians look very sick to me.

People in third world countries eat much worst than dogs and cats.   I know because I partly grew up in that environment.

Love the alliteration :) especially while dead dogs are devastating downtown dormitories  dealing in dope deposits :)
