gastroenterologist

Featured Replies

can some one recommend a good gastro doctor in the bangkok area.

have been having gastro issues for a number on months. had colonoscopy and gastroscopy(nov-2016) and told no major issues.

am playing ping pong medicine trying to get my stomach settled. it is effecting my quality of life as i can not go out.

have gone from diarrhea to constipation and back to diarrhea.

thanks

I have been there many times and currently batteling again after an unrelated antibiotic course. Guts totally lost their way but I'm making progress.

I could not control the diarhea so I switched to crackers, banana's and enough to drink during the day. After repeated visits to the toilet take your electrolytes and check the color of your urine!

Daily a dose of probiotics and keep doing this for a couple of days. Then slowly introduce some plain food like Yoke (rice soup) and see how it goes. I personally don't take medication because I want to know how my body reacts.

I'm not a doctor and maybe other members can give more usefull directions but it's the way I handle things.

For me, it can take weeks before everything is back to normal so patience is key.

Hospitals around here (the sticks) prescribe you so much medication that you can't see the forest from the trees!

Good luck.

Can you clarify if it is an upper or lower GI issue? As you mention constipation/diarrhea but then mention stomach.

Also - where were the gastroscopy and endoscopy done and how much confidence do you have in the doctors who read them?  There was a case not long ago of someone in Thailand who was told their colonoscopy results were normal when in fact it clearly showed a tumor that the doctors neither reported, removed nor biopsied.  So need to figure out if a tumor has truly been excluded or if is is advisable to get a second opinion on the  CD of the colonoscopy.

Answers will make a difference in whom I would suggest you see.

yes, stomach. nausea, vomiting, dry heaves and major cramps.

do they make a cd when they do a colonoscopy? all i ever saw was a report with some pictures.

Normally yes, they do record it on a CD.

Gastroenterolgists that I usually recommend are:

Prof. . Varocha Mahachai

https://www.bangkokhospital.com/index.php/en/doctor/gi/gi-01

Prof. Rungsun Rerknimitr

https://www.samitivejhospitals.com/en/doctors/rungsun-rerknimitr/?initial=all&hospital=all&specialty=all&keyword=Rungsun+Rerknimitr

They are also both at Chulalongkhorn and can be seen through the Chula after hours clinic as well as at the private hospitals in the links above
