I saw one other post on the forums about this topic - but, I'm hoping to get some new information. I would be working as a teacher or internet marketing consultant - and she'd likely not be working at all. If anyone has insight into how long she'd be able to stay - I'd really appreciate hearing it.

Thanks for your help

If you are married, she can apply for a depend pass.

If not, she would have to do the border run quite often, and most probably would be asked questions very rapidly.

As tourist, can stay 15 days?

Would a depend pass then permit her to stay as long as I'm there? 1 year? Do you know? thanks for info -

And, how many visa runs are allowed? Is there a limit? Is anyone currently doing this with a Thai girlfriend? Thanks...

This will be no help whatsoever but we have a saying in UK

"That's a bit like taking coals to Newcastle"

I'm sure you have an equivalent in the US.

Border runs would not last long at all. Land crossing into Singapore is very difficult. They would probably let it go a few times if you are with her. They can give up to 30 days, but unaccompanied young females rarely get more than 14 days.

Since you will have the work visa obtained by your employer, you might check and see if they will get the dependant visa at the same time. Singapore is fairly progressive about some things and might even recognize an unmarried partner.

Ahh, thanks guys for the info -

This post has been up for a while, I'm not likely to find any more info in the short-term. It looks like the best thing to do - and not a great option at all, is to go to Singapore, get the VISA from my employer and then work on getting her there and HOPE that she can come.

I'll try to contact schools in Singapore and see if it's possible to arrange her visa at the same time as mine - and what the chances of success for that are.

Thanks again...

She'll be given a thirty-day stay upon your initial entry into Singapore, almost for certain if you arrive by air. After that...

From my own experience gained by having taken Thai friends to Singapore, whenever we day-tripped across the border to Johor Bahru, I was given a new ninety-day entry stamp upon my return to Singapore, the Thais were given whatever time remained from their original thirty-day entry stamp. I doubt that this is a consistent policy but you get the idea. Thais will generally not be allowed to cross the border and return to Singapore to gain a new entry period. Too many illegal foreign laborers in Singapore.

You could always put her up in JB and commute. Know for a fact that a Thai can get 30 day stamp into Malaysia pretty much indefinitely (disclaimer, this was 5 years ago).
