Nine men were near the riverbank cooking up krathom tea when Tha Sala police made their move.

Six jumped into the water but only three could swim adequately, police said Friday.

Following the noon raid foundation medics, police and frogmen began the search for the three missing men.

"Frogmen"??   Now that's a term I haven't heard for many, many years.

Maybe they swam underwater to the other side and escaped?

Escape from Alcatraz movie 2?

" This is the police , hands up who can't swim , hmm 1  er 2 er 3 , Sarge , how many were there to start with ? "

Could this be karma ?

Very very sad, probably just a bunch of good guys, cooking up some krathom tea, nothing serious, RIP.

Not sure I believe this tale from the police. Could be true though. Who would dare contradict it publicly?

Arguably the single most important thing that a person can do, learn to swim ! Amazing how many people never get around to it.

Sorry, I feel no sympathy. Drug dealers .

and the next statement about how the brave  police dived into the freezing water and swam out to save the young non swimmers but were to late to be of any help

krathom is a herb and the government considered legalizing krathom in 2004, 2009, and 2013.

3 young lads who panicked in a bad situation. If we all think back to our late teens we can all relate. RIP

Learn to. Swim, forget it.

most of them haven't mastered the simple task of riding a bike or driving a car to any degree of competency or safety.

In a Thai khlong, it is not only the drowning which is a danger - all sorts of other nasty ways to die....

Honthy this comment of yours- Sorry, I feel no sympathy. Drug dealers.

That's a mindless reaction to a tragedy for their families and friends.  These guys were victims of ridiculous drug laws.

Three young drugees drowned  while trying to escape from

being arrested. I feel sad  for  their friend and families  but not

really for  them.  I feel  for the divers  who went into that Khlong

to try find  their bodies.

Geezer

It is one of my pet peavs here. Should be a community swimming pool in every city and teach people how to swim. Many die unnecessary.

RIP it seems justice has been carried out.... trust the families find peace.
