BANGKOK: -- A 17 year old mother has claimed that her five month old daughter died after falling out of a pram.

However, claims from the child's grandmother seem to suggest that the little girl was assaulted, reported Thai News Agency.

Samrit Tontao of Region 8 police said that he had interviewed "Naen" yesterday about the death of her five month old daughter Khanom.

She told him that the child fell out of a pram. There were no witnesses to this, said Samrit.

Neighbors have claimed child abuse.

Samrit said that investigators and social services will be interviewing the mother again to get to the truth and the pram itself is being checked to see if there is truth in the mother's story.

The baby's grandmother told TNA that doctors had found blood on the brain on two separate occasions. She claimed they had found broken neck vertebrae, a fractured skull, wounds to both eyes and a torn ear.

The Thai press reported she threw the baby on the floor  . . . .

. . . because of all the attention it received. Made her jealous!

At 17 years old she is way too young to be having a child, imo.

The grandmother reports that doctors found blood on the brain of the child on two separate occasions, amongst other injuries including damaged neck vertebrae.  However, who can believe her comments as the facts about the findings do not appear to have been reported when found?

She may be way too young, but she had a baby.

I know some girls, even younger as she is, that take good care of their babies.

Can't say that of the "fathers"......

Children having children. Life in the fast lane. Only now at my advanced age are parts of life starting to make sense. Looking back at age 17 life was full of land mines.

Unless the pram can speak a check is going to prove very little, but with all those separate injuries I'd rather have thought an autopsy would be more conclusive as to what happened when & what actually caused the death.

Lot's of smart a*sed comments going on.  This is a real tragedy in a society ill equipped to deal with teenage trauma.  Easy to point the finger of blame but are not in any position to sit in judgement.

A child having a child...

I don't know who I feel sorry for the most; the dead baby or the mother.

Both innocent.

RIP little one; hope you get the help and support you need big one and can one day come to terms with what has happened to your life.

She claims have the doctors verified this? Is she a blood relative to the grandmother? If not a blood relative can be very judgmental in affairs like this.

Sounds like a case of a crazy mom but the grandmother claiming all she claims looks as guilty for not having the bottle to come forward sooner. With that as a GM what do you expect.

Could be, and smells like it. They don't like those conditions here.
