BANGKOK: -- Suburbans may be doomed once authorities close lanes at Lat Phrao Intersection to make way for the construction of the BTS’s Green Line extension.

The parts of Paholyothin Road connected to Lat Phrao Intersection are scheduled to close in February for one year, in order for construction workers to build the pillars for the Green Line’s extension, Prachachart reported.

Peerayuth Singpattanakul, governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority, said that the extension will connect BTS Mo Chit with a new station at the intersection. The elevated rail will pass over the five-way intersection and a 16-meter-tall tollway. At its peak, the BTS tracks will be 26 meters tall, the height of an eight-storey building.
