2WD "Jeep" copies

Featured Replies

Most seaside towns in Thailand offer these ersatz Jeeps for hire. Can anyone supply details of where they are made...or who makes them?

They appear to be a van with a Jeep body bolted on top. Does anyone know what they started life as?

If they're like the ones that are all over the PI; chances are good it's on Toyota running gear/frame.....

can guess most of that - they also appear to have a variety of engines - but I'm trying to find out some definite facts about these contraptions, like where do the bodies come from?

The ones I remember from the Philippines were made in unpainted stainless steel.

looks a lot better built than the ones in Thailand that have the bodies mounted on "stumps" to raise them above the chassis....

I can't understand why anyone would want one....they aren't even 4WD - although they probably would have some reasonable off-road capability solely due to big wheels and ground clearance.......I suspect they wouldn't pass a crash test though.
