Brawls between rival youth gangs resulting in violence are hardly news-worthy? More often than not they are associated with rival technical schools. And while they usually just hack away at each other with shop--made machetes they do use single-round homemade zip-guns, and the resulting inaccuracy usually claims the life of some innocent.

 

These gangs are actually encouraged by the "powers-that-be", albeit informally through "alumni" contacts, and have served as a sort of unofficial militia which can be used to put down pesky students and commoners.

probably just took one of dads.. Only a couple of years ago one was thrown into a club in Chiang Rai.. Seems to be normal practice.. Same thing kids having a disagreement.. Not too much forward thought put into things here..

Temple fairs are an affront to the general public and a nuisance to the people living nearby. Should shut at midnight with zero beer and alcohol sold.

They are no longer the pillars of the community rather the place where no-one but the Monks can say anything and so anything goes.

Deaths fights, drunkenness and sexual assaults  to name but a few of the crimes that go on at these places and the AUTHORITES do nothing.

No 'church' or parish ever organized anything closely as ridiculous and contradictory as what they call a 'temple -fair' here, not where i come from or ever visited in Europe, the USofA, Canada ... or several Muslim countries for that matter.

My friend has witnessed two killings here, one in a nightclub and another at a market where they hacked a guy to death with a machete.

Very dangerous country now.
