Eat your 5 a day

Recommended Posts

Before leaving the UK there was a lot of adverts saying eat 5 fruit/vegetables a day.

Well i grow my own veg (organically).

Yesterday i made dinner in the slow cooker using carrots/onions/baby corn/ garlic/white radish/sponge gourd/kale/mushrooms/water chestnuts/pumpkin.

Only mushrooms and garlic not grow by me.Also bantam chicken, grown/killed by me.

So all you posters stating i do not live near a city please take note, this cranky old bugger did this from my wheelchair.

So if i can do it anybody can

This thread is useless without VIDEO :)

Stills would be fine for catching the veggies, but chooks are a bit more, er, dynamic.

Crossy i will get the wife make a short video just for you.

Great, but none of those easy to catch chickens. We need video of the stalking and capture of a wily cos-lettuce or even one of those deadly predators, a bunch of carrots.

I can not wait for the video, a cunning cranky old bugger with a net hunting chickens.

Will there be a thrilling chase-down from the motability scooter, like we see in the old safari movies?

You must be fast in that wheelchair to catch a chicken.

Probably Colins wife catches them for him, but I have to say, killing a live animal or bird is just something I could not do, unless it tried to kill or injure me.

Caught a chicken doing the nasty one time.

And, oh!, caught a chicken in a lie one time.

But catch a chicken in a wheel chair?

Can't say I've ever done that.

Costas needs to weigh in on the veracity of this claim. :)

Costas?????? Is he still alive? :shock1:

The Thai government has developed a 3 legged chicken because they found that the average family here in Thailand is made up of three people The mother and grandmother as well as 1 child

A reporter from the Bangkok Post saw a three legged chicken while he was in the north of Thailand running along side his care that was traveling at 40 Kilometers. He they witnessed the chicken run into a farm so he followed

He say the chicken run into a barn so he asked the farmer about it  The farmer said he was hired by the Department of Farms here in Thailand to develop a 3 legged  chicken to meet the demands of the Thai family since Thais love chicken Legs

The reporter was astounded and asked " WOW what does the Chicken taste Like

The farmer Shot back " I dont know I have never been able to catch one of them yet "

I wonder if that is a hell of a lot of stuff to cook together….so many flavours that might interfere with the other….I like max two veggies together unless its a salad where each veggie is like an individual dish (i.e. pumpkin with cashew nuts)

I am too softhearted to watch animals or being killed, not long ago, I caught a live rat in a trap after it destroyed my motorbike seat, I took it away into the countryside and let it go free.

Nice one Mr Collin I'm just on with my second go with the vegies and with reading the forum and a little advice from another I will be eating my own soon. I struggle to eat here in the hot days so I snack throughout the day, I love those pumpui mackerel in tomato sauce with a couple of slices of wholemeal toast followed by a yogurt of two for brecky, lunch is only light a  salad with eggs or prawns then around 8 pm I have the full mashing's veg with pork, chicken or fish. Not too keen on the steak or  any other red meats and you can't get the real good steak here....... How long before I can pull one of my carrots Collin? I'm dying to look.

Hypnotism, chicken are easy to hypnotize. They just sit there quietly or they lean over and two feet facing the sky.

Or use chinese "chi gong", just the force to knock out the chicken. The meat becomes tender too because of your chi gong force.

There are loads of "How to" articles and videos on the net, but they all seem to involve catching the chook first, not really what Colin is after :(

Back to Plan-A, food and a net. Got to be a great upper-body workout, waving a net around with a struggling bantam inside.

Been veggi since 1974.  Still cranking out 100 push ups every other day.  Veggies, fruits, nuts seeds, legumes and some grains have everything you need.  Bon Appetite!!!
