February 11, 20179 yr From time to time we need a plumber, electrician or someone to do DIY jobs, would be grateful if people could PM me with any recommendations and approx prices. We have asked people in our mooban but had a couple of bad experiences so are reluctant to go with that approach again.
February 11, 20179 yr Vital to know where.. These kind of folks generally only operate fairly local. We struggle to find professionals in any field, even when you found one, something goes wrong and they just never return.
February 11, 20179 yr In the long run it often pays to diy.......I can guarantee everyone who has a whinge about a past job has thought "I could have done that myself" take the stress and worry away completely unless you are in a full time job here then why not put that free time to some use. then afterwards you can sit back and really enjoy a well deserved beer.
February 11, 20179 yr Author dont forget those who are useless ay DIY like me and can end up making things much worse sometimes!
February 11, 20179 yr Agreed, a bit of research and education and its amazing what one can accomplish. Although it may take you a bit longer to get the end result versus a qualified tradesman, the satisfaction earnt is just reward (In some cases). Im no electrician but can wire up a lighting circut easily enough without overloading anything. Learnt a lot from my grandfather who was a qualified electrician plus the internet extended my learning when it comes to new stuff...like LED strip lights. Plumbing is also something that you have to be careful with too. Drainage especially so. But the info is at your finger tips. Every journey starts with the first step.....

February 12, 20179 yr This is one reason we live in a condo building. When something goes wrong the office will either send up the building maintenance guy who does a good job with minor repairs, or if it's beyond his capabilities, they know who to call and will set up the appointment. The people they call do a good job. If the office got bad feedback on any of these outside contractors, they'd find another. In some areas, they have a couple contractors whey call.
