Passport for Thai child....

Featured Replies

Decided to go abroad for a short time with wife and stepdaughter. The daughter has never had a passport before, so planning to go tomorrow and get it fixed. The daughter is a result of a one night stand with an English guy, who left the building, when my now wife got pregnant 14 years ago....BUT he is on the birth certificate as the father and the daughter has his second name. Will that be a problem at the passport office? Like would he need to consent to her getting a passport and leaving Thailand?   He is back in the UK, and during her life there has never been any contact...So my question is, will his name on the birth certificate and the girls family name create any headache at the passport office?

Thank you

My understanding is that the mother needs to get an attorney then go to court and get sole custody. Once she has this then she can get the child a Thai passport. By the info you give this should be no problem.

My daughters passport ran out, my wife took her to Korat to get a new Thai passport. Even thou it was not her first passport they would not issue a passport without me being there to sign the application.
