Authorities have failed to locate a Russian tourist who went missing during a trip to Koh Tao three weeks ago.

Valentina Novozhyonova, 23, checked into a resort on the southern island on February 11 and mysteriously disappeared four days later.

Police yesterday found a black slipper near the resort where she was staying but it was not clear whether it belonged to her.

KOH TAO:-- Police are searching for a Russian tourist who has been missing from Koh Tao since February 16.

Valentina Novozhenova, 23, disappeared from a Koh Tao hotel the day she was supposed to check out after a week-long stay.

Amid concerns that she might have gotten into trouble while snorkeling off the island, police officers and divers yesterday went to four possible spots that they believe she could have visited, where the water is about 20 meters deep.

free diving can be a dangerous sport especially if done alone. you can easily pass out underwater .  she is gone. hope they find her though.

Here's the search.

A search party of divers and rescue workers set out on Tuesday to scour areas in a bay for a missing Russian female tourist holidaying on Koh Tao, a famous island resort in South Thailand. Valentina Novozhyonova, 23, disappeared after checking into a hotel on Feb 11. Authorities suspected she had gone on a diving expedition. Police met 30 individuals from businesses offering diving classes and expeditions on the island as well as local rescue workers.

Look's like another mystery. Here's some pictures I found on twitter. Police questioning tourists, have you seen this women, etc.

Hardly even made the daily news papers...seems to have been almost a media shut down everywhere but Koh Tao...

Known that she disapeared after 4 days but only started searching a few days ago.

They look a bit pale to me so obviously only been there a couple of days or less how would they know what happened 3 weeks ago? Surely by now after talking to all the local dive shops  and checking the dive areas they should know she went missing on land. Who will they be questioning next?

We know who they won't be questioning.

Post with speculation removed.... there is too much speculation and nonsense about the whole topic...

When details become available they will no doubt be posted...
