It is a known fact that genuine tourist can be denied entry to South Korea with no apparent reasons. There are quite a few reports when Thai nationals with proof of income/legal job/property/booked accommodation/return ticket/you-name-it were refused entry and forced to go back to Thailand (with some pushing and physical force involved, too!). Now my wife has booked a return ticket for a 5 day vacation in Korea, and I can't go with her. She is a housewife and a day trader, no kids or property, which makes her a candidate for interrogation. Any ideas how to confront the immigration officer should he/she decide to send my wife back? Demand a letter of refusal? Any possible legal actions?

They usually look at a place of birth and appearance. If you are  a Thai visitor who comes from North or North-east of Thailand, the Korean migration authorities  tend to consider you as a high risk and will possibly deny  you entry unless you have a Chinese decent or look wealthy. I think this is a kind of racism. However, the statistics of illegal Thai migrants or overstayers make them think that way.

There is so many thai been caught illegal stay in South Korea and have been send back in the past, unless you ( a foreigner using different passport ) can go together and proof that she is your wife, that maybe more easy for her to enter and enjoy the holiday.
