Mark Roberts Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 For those of you that know back injuries I'm wondering how it works here and what the cost is. Do I have to go to an orthopedist or spine specialist to get referral to get the X-ray to take to my back doc in USA so he can measure the motion in my spine off the films. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Tgrn Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 As far as I know, you always need to see the specialist to get an x-ray. Compared to European costs, which I can relate to, it's rather cheap. They often do x-rays for diagnosis. It probably costs a couple of thousands bath maximum. Maybe less. As an rpt, what do you need the x-ray for?
Mark Roberts Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Amount of motion in spine determines criteria for fusion candidacy.
Sheryl Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 You will not only need to see a doctor to get this ordered, but to get it ordered correctly (i.e. so that it is not just a regularly spinal film but captures flexion and extension), it needs to be a spinal specialist who can communicate, inThai, what is required to the xray dept. You are otherwise very liable to end up with just a plain spinal film. If you are in Bangkok , I suggest Dr. Wicharn at the BNH Hospital Spine Center. While you are at it, might like to get his opinion (since you have to pay for the consultation anyway), he is a very good spinal specialist. The consultation will cost 1500 - 2000 baht, the films at a guess 1000-2000 more.
Mark Roberts Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Ok thank you so much for that info, I've got enough spinal films and mri's to wallpaper the royal palace. That doesn't really save me any money or time so I'll just wait till I go home to USA & have it done but I will look up the back doc here just to see how prolific he is.
