Baht to strengthen, forecasts Bank of Ayudhya

By The Nation

The Bank of Ayudhya, also known as Krungsri, forecasts the baht will strengthen against the US dollar to a range of Bt34.55 to Bt34.85, from Bt34.86 last week.

On Monday, the baht reached a five-month high against the US dollar after the US Federal Reserve’s decision to raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points last week.

Foreign investors have been keen on the Thai bond market, with net purchases of Bt3.7 billion at the end of last week.

Wait a week or two and some other Thai bank will make the opposite forecast because their decision coin toss landed on the other side.

just 2 weeks ago CIMB and Maybank Kimeng.... in an article posted on ThaiVisa.com... predicted the Baht will ***weaken*** to 37 by year end.

of course everyone says "yeah! the Baht is too strong"

why should a haircut.. and a shave.... cost more than 10 cents?

I guess it's a good question.

Bahts the H out of me what will happen. After living here for years I always keep an eye open for the opposite effect in what is said. Buying the subs is a good example. No we are not well maybe well yes we are.

The Baht will strengthen against WHAT? Oh I know'The failing Euro" and maybe the Mexican Peso.  5555

What about the good old GBP which is inexorably plunging towards parity with the THB as we speak?:shock1:

The baht strengthening this much doesn't bother me, but I wonder what their analysts saw that wasn't reported. Normally the rise in the Fed overnight interest rate would cause the dollar to strengthen a little. It's been just a tad under 35 for several months now.

The analyst saw the Baht strengthen. A little anyway. Then he wrote a report that said "Baht to strengthen".
