toenail
Unplanned, I ran into vendors promoting Pattaya's tourist sites (Sanctuary of Truth; Elephant Sanctuary, Floating Market, Nong Nooch Gardens, Elephant Village..) a great display of various Thai silks, a couple of special Thai food booths and crafts (not junk) and there was a small stage (set up across from Central Shopping Mall) that had over ten local Pattaya schools performing various traditional Thai dances. The costumes, presentations, and variety were amazing. (Note: I have lived here over eleven years and can easily be bored with the usual Thai dances--but these 3-5 minute dances easily held my interest.) There were also a couple dance productions from Pattaya's tourist establishments. My opinion: Sad the organizers did not promote this event (I did not read anything on Thaivisa or Inspire Magazine or any promotion posters). The seating area was too small and crowded--- looked like the planners were expecting only 100 in the audience. With so much effort from the schools preparing for this and being tastefully done, I feel the expat and Thai community missed a great event.
