The decision to purchase from China was due to price. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday said that price was one-third of that of military hardware from Western countries.

Made in China takes on a whole new meaning. Lets hope they do not come with a kill button like in kill the engine. Are they VAT exempt??

Good job .....  every country must boost it's military capabilities.  This is a drop in the ocean compared to many western countries.

however,  seems doesn't matter what the PM does ...  many farangs living here ( or maybe shouldn't be )   are never satisfied ....  :jap:

Having been in a small village for the last 6 years, I can assure you that your impression of their high regard will need some upgrading.

They will remember each and every mistake, and no matter what you achieve the day before,  you will know nothing by morning. The best you can hope for is to be considered diligent and kind, or at least well behaved.

And please, never complain!

And, it's not like the Chinese are not going to be able to track everything they sell at any time

The only reason Junta's and totalitarian governments by tanks is to crush a peoples or students rebellion , from a strategic view Thailand isn't worth invading and the amount of tanks they have got would be useless in any kind of warfare............................................................:coffee1:

It is a well known historical fact that the Thais 'have never been invaded' because 'they simply cunningly allowed a free pass to any army wanting passage to Thailand's neighbouring countries - come on in, we're not going to fight you' Pussies. My feeling is something's brewing and they'll very likely be needed, against their own people, again.

And f anyone trots out the tired old 'Chinese invasion by stealth' Good! I say as my heart leaps with delight when I learn a particular mechanic/electrician etc is a Chinese Thai luek krueng. They have the politeness of the Thai but with a bloody brain.

China has some impressive military hardware on their list. Planes and tanks that will defeat nearly all US hardware. Check out Janes military aircraft and tanks. A world authority. Whether Thailand gains access to them is doubtful, but any new military item that is purchased must exceed the junk that US and some Europeans have been dumping on them with for eons. US has dumped Thailand as an ally, China is quick to fill the void

Most countries exporting arms exclude certain top end platforms and technologies, and apply other limitation on who can buy what. The PRC is no different. There weren't any weapon systems "dumped" on Thailand, Thailand buys what it buys. Not that it's military needs are really all that great.

As for Chinese systems being able to "defeat nearly all US hardware" - most PRC hardware isn't battle proven, and the same goes for the PRC's armed forces. Things looking nice on paper and parades is not the real deal.

This tank is chineese made so good for the rubbish  yard  it is slower than a APC of course for the smaller version of tank if you like.

They did not show anything very impressive like going under water and wait for the enemy to show and blow.

Will hey have operational instruction written in Thai?? You think.

They are just like kids they want to play in the sand. There is no need for tanks cause they will never compete with any of the super powers like USA, Germany.England,China ,KOrea south that is even the NK and many more.

So let spend all this cash recuerated from the corruption seizures like drugs and all and have fun in the sand.

Nope, they aren't just like kids. They're more like idiots who do not seem to understand that almost the same amount is needed for plenty of hospitals.

What's more important? Some fishy tanks, or a lot of hospitals. P. doesn't seem to know the answer.

   BTW< it's tax payer's money.

To an infantryman they are all targets....

No such thing as a 'friendly tank" to a foot slogger eh!

Great video - love the "Kill Bill" sound track. Wonder if they last as long as my Chinese "Swiss army type" knife. Impressed with the safety aspect, every tool was as blunt as it could be straight out the box!

Tanks are useless to protect Thailand's border in case of conflict, owing to jungle (Malay and Burma) and the Mekong river (Laos border). Okay, some sections of the Cambodian border could be protected by tanks.

But let's face it, the sole intended purpose of these tanks is to intimidate and crush Thai protesters.
