Bali & Magic Mushrooms

Featured Replies

I'm flying to Bali v v soon and I'm gonna be there for 2 weeks.

So far, my plans include doing these things.......................... bungee jumping, white water rafting, para-sailing, climbing Mt. Agung, loads of tanning, beach combing, visiting museums, visiting the monkey sanctuary and bird sanctuary, a bit of surfing and snorkeling. I ain't a very good swimmer yet, so I might dissed snorkeling and surfing depending on how I feel about it when I get there.

For those who have been to Bali, pls. feel free to suggest places or things to do when in Bali.

I've read about magic mushrooms and I am very curious what they are like. I wanna give it a try at least once when I am there. No worries, I don't plan on doing (other things.) If you know what I mean. I've read that magic mushrooms are sorta common in Bali and not considered as illegal at all! (Technically, anyway.)

For those who know what magic mushrooms are pls. feel free to give me some input about what to expect if I (do) try it. I would also want to know how it will affect me and for how long.

Thanks.

LOL, two trips in one.

Mushies are illegal in LOS though so maybe we can't talk about it here. You ain't seen me, right....Sssssssssshh. :o

redrus

Yeah, but she's not talking about taking them in Thailand, she mentioned Bali where she's suggesting they may be legal.

So lets tell her then.......... :o

Think acid (Lsd) without the dirty horrible chemical feeling. Much more mellow. More controllable. I never (in my misspent youth) got real bad hallucinations from shrooms like I did sometimes on acid, 15 years ago now.

Just take it easy, be around people you like and never panic.

redrus

GF

Mushies are legal just like dope in in Indonesia. :o Be very careful. (In other words don't get caught.)

You can get them in omelettes or cooked in some weird drinks. Talk in hushed tones with some of the more dread-locked folk and they may point you to a cafe. If you are into some of the mind altering pharmacia you will understand them better than the effects of alcohol. My experiences were with ones I picked myself in Au, rather than trusting strangers in a potentially hostile place.

In Bali I would stick to the more wholesome activities.

As you like the odd drink and party Kuta is well known for that.

Spend some time in Ubud to chill out and see the monkey forest, some of the rain forest in that area is worth investigating. There is a great cooking school there too.

If you like surfing go to the north-west coast.

Mt Agung is sacred to the locals and is an active volcano, so you may not get too close.

If there is a cremation happening in the time you are there that is worth going to have a look, the higher the caste the bigger the party.

Bali is known as the island of 1000 temples and after a couple of days on tours looking at them you tend to feel like you have seen them all, although Tannah Lot is spectacular at dusk.

Leave the pepper spray at home, it is illegal.

The answer to the annoying touts who ask "where are you going?" is "Jalan jalan"

Have a good time, the place will be full Aussies just like my mate Terry57, although some may not speak with quite the croc hunter vocabulary.

I'm hoping that they will affect you alot and last a long time....in a good way.

I am serious man!

Your list looks pretty good, but if you cut out all the rafting and instead spend 3 days on the Gili islands in nearby Lombok only a few hours away... a real paradise... no cars, no mopeds, just horse and carts and spectacular beaches.

Have fun

Thanks Ourmanflint.

I might do what you suggested. I'm currently googling/checking-out Gili Islands right now.

Teacher SOBER

I used to live near a golf course where shrooms were abundant every year.

I loved them when I was early teens. Definately try them - you probably won't feel like drinking. However, by the time I was 25, and an alcoholic on Koh Pan Ngan I would always have an ommelette and make sure I had a bottle of Maekong handy for when I freaked out a bit.

Everyone should try shrooms or acid once - makes you see the world as it really isn't or maybe is. Try not to get arrested like I did - being on mushrooms in a police cell is not recommended, although I did have a good laugh - the police didn't find it funny.

i really like shrooms but don't do them these days. the thing is with them, you never really know what you are going to get. most times will be beautiful, magical, weird, and fun. but sometimes there is a dark edge to them or it is just too much to handle. i have unfortunately seen first time users completelty freak out on them. not everyone can handle shrooms. especially if there is some unresolved problem in their head, shrooms are known for helping to bring out trapped emotions but that is not always a good thing. if you do them, make sure you are in a comfortable place with people you trust. supposedly if it gets too intense you should sip something sweet and it helps bring you down.

Bit like *chang* then

Thanks for your interesting and informative post.

I haven't tried shrooms before so I am kinda scared to try it, but you know...... I always have a curious side and if I won't give it a try, I will always wonder what it's like.

Cheers..........

Yeah, I agree with you Neeranam. Everyone should try shrooms at least once! (I don't think I will want to try acids. I'm such a <deleted> wimp. hahahhahaaaaaa) Anyone, I might give shrooms a try.

Thanks for the reminder. I will try to stay away from the policemen or police cells.

if you do them, make sure you are in a comfortable place with people you trust.

Very good advice.
