BANGKOK: -- A lawyer for the Pheu Thai party has said that the prime minister's directive to stop Thais travelling in the back of pick-up is "an unjustifiable use of his authority".

Reuangkrai Leekitwattana has called on Prayut Chan-ocha to make a U-turn on that use of Article 44 and stop the front and back seatbelt rule too, reported Thai Rath.

Reuangkrai said that the military leaders need to come up with an alternative plan to promote road safety that does not impact the Thai people so greatly.

He said he plans to present a petition in person today at 10am.

after his 5 minutes of fame and trying to get people on board the red shirt bus again after all their crap. As has been stated many times, this law has been on the books in Thailand for years but never enforced, it is not something new. This is all about money, people simply want to do the cheapest thing possible, the lives of their families or other road users does not even come into it.

"Reuangkrai said that the military leaders need to come up with an alternative plan to promote road safety that does not impact the Thai people so greatly."

So he wants laws etc., that don't impact people.

He (supposedly) has advanced education.

He's a red gang mouthpiece.

An interesting insight into the quality and thinking of the red gang (they call themselves a political party which they are not, never have been, and without a major rework of their thinking, policies and morals and cutting themselves loose from being a paid army they never will be).

Step one:

- Conduct transparent elections within your gang to display your genuine desire for democracy.

- Disclose where your funds come from.

- Make it clear that they welcome dialogue and informed debate (with no violence).

- Agree and publish a multi-point manifesto which focused on one thing, with specific details, the development of Thailand, including benefits (not handouts) for all Thais regardless of geograhy etc. And including specific details of much better education and fair and equal education opportunities.

He knows the electorate.  No doubt when/if elections are allowed to be held again, the next incarnation of TRT/PPP/PTP will loudly remind the voters that they spoke up against this safety measure.  Possibly while also promising "No seatbelts, no license required, no lower age limit on drivers and motorcyclists, no helmets, no load limits, and no minimum or maximum speed limits" if elected.  I believe that all of these are also currently against the law, but rarely policed, so why not make them legal too?

He just wants publicity for the party AND they can fit more people in the back of their pickups to get to protest rallies. However, there are too many people already in the world, let's rip out the seat belts, air bags and any other safety improvement and then clean up the carnage everyday.

I get you survival of the smartest. There are to many old people in the world Soylent Green might be the answer. Also a life checkout system if one chooses to do so. I know abortion is not an option here but sky diving from a tall building hmmm.

And at the same time offer no manifesto (because they don't have one and probably not bright enough to build a balanced manifesto and not going to happen beacause that's not their main purpose in life (corruption is), but except for another hair brained idea to try for amnesty for their criminal fled unethical owner (think of blood diamonds) who pays their monthly salary on the basis that they all shut their mouths and say nothing in parliament or elsewhere.

The guy is insane, must be thinking of a system of population control that does not cover the elitists of the country.

No he's promoting PTP as the friend of the friend of the masses. PTP and their owner don't give a rats about the people, their safety or that of their kids.

Seat belts and passenger carrying laws are in all sensible developed countries. Here laws don't get enforced and people die who might otherwise have survived.

But PTP and their cronies only want to look popular.
