PHUKET:-- A couple who operate a noodle shop in Phuket Town escaped with minor injuries after their car slammed into a power pole that sits partially protruding into the lane on Thepkrasattri Rd this morning (April 26).

Capt Sanae Yensai of Phuket City Police was called to the scene, opposite Phuket Wittayalai School in Phuket Town, at 9:15am.

“The driver, Thichakorn Dungmali, 37, suffered only minor injures and his passenger, Amonnat Matthanang, 40, hurt her back,” Capt Sanae said.

“Ms Amonnat was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment and further medical assessment,” he said.

“They were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident,” Capt Sanae added.

I fail to see where that pole intrudes into the road..................or has it jumped to the other side of the line after the accident?

Meanwhile in another country.

Dang, I'm sure glad they put the 15" base light poles in the 36" sidewalk on the Beach Road at Jomtien at Alley 12 so that only humans could run into them.  Them engineers are just forever thinking!  Not only that, if you actually bump into one you've only got a 2 foot drop off the edge into the sand, unlike the rest of the boardwalk.

I can't see that the concrete pole is on the road ....    ??

It is close but it is left of the white line /  lane

By heart, there are in each direction 2 car lanes there, plus one for motorbikes to the left of that. It looks like this pole is in the motorbike lane.

The pole behind the one in question looks like it IS slightly protruding on to the road, he might have had a dubious case had he hit that one. Thankfully no major hurts.

Confirms what we already know driving standards here are the worst in the world and intelligence is even lower. We know Poles? can move but not concrete ones even in this neck of the woods

Is the intelligent one who wrote this headline asleep as well, he would have to be to have dreamt up this load of rubbish.  Pole is not on the roadway, neither are any of the others.

There is no motorcycle lane either, as some posters seem to think.

The happy chappie who was driving, according to the body of the story, was falling asleep, which saw the vehicle drift and impact with the pole.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Just a total rubbish report. :wai:
