PHUKET: -- In a crash that is being blamed on a plastic bottle, a car in Phuket Town flipped over onto its roof yesterday afternoon after the driver lost control at a traffic stop.

“We arrived at the scene, on Komaraphat Roat near the Phuket City Municipality pawnshop, to see a silver Honda City sedan lying upside down on the side of the road. The vehicle’s front windscreen was broken,” said Lt Col Chana Suthimas of Phuket City Police.

Rescue workers pulled the 60-year-old man out of the car with only minor injuries.

I wonder how this front windscreen can get broken, is it not safety glass...

He was reaching for his plastic bottle of Pepsi and his hand did a reverse pull on the steering wheel, which pulled the car towards a curb and flipped the poor Honda. Another accident in Phuket. What's in the water down there?

Alcohol usually.

so it is the plastic bottle at fault  ?

The person driving the vehicle is responsible even if a bottle slipped under a pedal

any excuse as usual

I thought a big plastic bottle jumped out in front of the driver who swerved to miss it. There are some great convincing explanations available in the LOL

So, who's fault was it for leaving the bottle in the drivers footwell ?

... Must be Honda's for not supplying a trash bin in their vehicles...

Anymore things they could think of to be blamed?

A plastic bottle "UNDER" the gas pedal would not cause the car to speed up.So this clown proberly reached for the dropped bottle and while he was looking down and speeding up pulled the steering wheel as tornwct stated.

a good tap from the sidewalk will shatter a windscreen.

" a plastic bottle stuck under the brake pedal caused him to crash, "
Lucky he did not hit anybody on the way over.

The 5 c.q. 15 hour compulsory driving course or even the video did not cover this eventuality.

What?
Use the handbrake or gearbox to slow down the car ? Why ? No-one told me !

Just maybe the driver thought that by squashing the bottle flat it would stop rolling about. Pity it was under the accelerator .
