While shopping in RimPing this morning,I could not believe my eyes,

A large Savoy cabbage ,priced at 861.50 THB,!, while it might not be

of interest to many,it might be more interesting than some of the posts we

get nowadays.

regards worgeordie           P.S. I did not buy it,

I think we need proof to believe that one !  :shock1:

Which Rimping by the way ?

Even 86Bt is expensive !

Although something this size might just justify the price.

Just recently saw a picture of a pack of Brussels sprout for 555.

Savoy cabbage, brussels sprout...

All "exotic" stuff imported by plane from the colder parts of this world.

Never saw savoy cabbage in normal supermarkets, not to speak of local markets.

In comparison: go to Lafayette, Harrods or KaDeWe and look at the price tags for fresh rambutan, purple mangosteen etc.

Geordie must have come from 1 of your mates in the north east, they like growing show stopping veg.:cheesy:

There are Leek cults in the former mining villages, see who can grow the biggest Leek,

then on the night before the show, the Leek slashers are about, destroying the competitions

Leeks,so some people actually sleep on the plot with their  Leeks, Football,Drinking

thats what its all about, not necessarily  in that order.never grew them myself but like a plate

of fried leeks and Gammon, couple boiled ,buttered potatoes .

Not directly related by perhaps useful for some: TOPS in Central Festival sells store made Cumberland Sausages, 500 baht a kilo (with a number 1 card) and they are actually quite good.

Doi Kham grows Brussel sprouts ,so don't see the need to import them ,especially at that price Ha Ha Ha,  you can also buy a Kg of frozen ones

from Belgium for 109 THB. at Makro  PS Savoys where still there this morning.

Whether beer or veggies; imported = very high import tax. I eat and drink nearly 100% local.  However, if the price were lower, i'd drink better beer than Leo, maybe London Pride.
