External Hard Drive pre-formatted for Mac

Featured Replies

Where can I get one in Thailand? Tried the various online sites but I am not seeing anything that looks pre-formatted for Mac.

I don't need wireless, cloud capacities. Just an ordinary external hard drive.

Thanks!

Usually marked on packaging whether set up for Mac... last one I got was at JIB, which I think is Nationwide. (Seagate) ..

But I think previous poster is correct, just re reformat

Self formatted or you let the staff in apple shop do it for you.

Most external hard drives that say they are for Mac OS aren't formatted with Mac OSX extensions, they use FAT. It's very easy to reformat a drive using Disc Utility that comes with the Mac operating system. Open the utility app and find the drive you want to format. Click on it, then erase. Choose Mac journaled in format and click erase. It takes only a few minutes.

Sheryl,

What capacity are you looking for? I have several mechanisms ranging from 500GB to 2TB and one in an external casing which is almost new (impulse purchase, not my usual style).
