Patong counterfeit goods crackdown nets 10,000 items, valued at B20mn

PHUKET: -- Officials who carried out a series of raids in the tourist-popular Patong Beach area have reported in a matter of hours to have seized more than 10,000 illegal trademark items with a an estimated street value of more than B20 million.

 

The monster haul of illicit goods were announced at a high-profile press conference held at 8:30pm last night, after the raids on 10 locations in the beach resort town were launched at 4:30pm yesterday afternoon (May 18).

 

Present to tell the the press about the raids were no less than Col Anan Yuprasit of the Phuket office of the military’s Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) national security agency.

 

Hailing from Bangkok were Mana Simma, chief of the Criminal Case Investigation Division of the national Department of Provincial Administration and officers from Department of Intellectual Property.

 

Also present were local officials Kathu District Chief Sayan Chanachawong and Lt Col Saksan Khomsakhorn of Patong Police.

 

It was not revealed how many officers were used in carrying out the raids, or specifically which shops were raided.

damn .....  I like copy goods ...  keeps many employed & doesn't hurt anyone ...

the person buying a counterfeit cannot afford the real thing so it doesn't take profits from the corporate scum.

With such high rankers at the helm of this one the usual pitch up in a week or so and pay the fine buy your stock back

What are you talking about ?

 

Do you really believe that any cop in the world catch more than 0.0001 % of all the illegal activities online ?

Oh everyone knows about the corruption in Thailand,  but counterfeit goods are okay for you. Right!

Nice attitudes,  I would rather buy the real thing, and not a pirated knock off, thank you very much.

  I always like to hear of these raids, and just wished that they happened more often.

Yes get rid of the copies , sell the real products instead , more raids needed.
