There I was thinking I could get a discount on a new Aussie passport...

Featured Replies

Heard on the grapevine of misinformation that if you were an OAP you could get a discount on a new Aussie passport. As mine will expire next year, but my retirement extension is due in August, I am going to Bangkok next month to renew. Turns out, there is no discount, all they do is offer a 5 year passport to people over 75 for half the price of a 10 year passport, big deal! Thought it was too good to be true.:saai:

Well, if you're over 75, it could be actually a good idea to start buying things for 5 years instead of 10, right? :sleepy:

:sorry:

And you thought you came from a country where they looked after their citizens

I Australia your better of not being one as now all the entitlements have changed - it only a matter of how many years you've been there

It is cheaper to get the passport renewed in Australia.

Handy if you are planning a trip home prior to your passport expiring.
