The Lomprayah catamaran is by far the more comfortable of the two--much better seats.

I think the speed and price are about the same.

In flat seas lomphrya is faster and more confortable ....

Any swell or waves such as this time of year FORGET lompryha seatran is much more suited and a lot safer.

Lomphrya (catamaran) is flatpack boat from Australia designed for Harbour use not much fun in any seas over 1.5mtrs.

Seatran ferry designed in Japan and able to handle bigger seas.

I have done this trip over 50 -60 times and have been won over by Seatran now, staff are helpfull and getting on and off boat is easier.

Many thanks for the help. Seatran here we come!

Made a mental note of how many times been cut up, overtaken on a blind bend and had one right up my arse!. Thats one of their mini buses not one of its Catamaran's!

Many thanks

I would go for Seatran now. The service is better that is the guys will help you with bags and stuff, the access on and off at both Samui and Koh Phangan is better and it lands me closer to the airport when I need it. I go for Lomprayah if I want to go to Nathon it being cloer to that end. Price is the same, 250 baht.

Seatran is the far better option. It consistently leaves from the same place, boarding is easier, staff are (more) helpful, the boat -- as has been said -- is actually seaworthy and designed for the purpose it serves, has a decent upper deck, and masages if you want em.

over the long haul it is slightly slower though

Many thanks. took the Seatran in the end and was very happy. I made the mistake of leaving the car in the car park at the pier however which added another 30 mins to the journey time whilst I waited for the complimentary buses to leave!
