BANGKOK: -- BTS Group Holding Plc will invest about 6 billion baht for the construction of two extension routes of the Pink Line from Chaengwattana to Impact Arena and the Muang Thong Thani lake and of the Yellow Line from the Lat Phrao underground station to the Ratchayothin intersection of the Green Line.

BTAS Group Holding Plc chairman Khiri Kanchanapas said on Thursday that he expected the two projects would be approved by the National Environment Committee and the State Enterprise Policy Committee next year before they are to be sent to the Mass Rapid Transit Authority for consideration.

Signing of the two construction contracts – 34.5-km Pink Line between Kae Rai and Min Buri estimated to cost 54 billion baht and the 30.4-km Yellow Line from Lat Phrao to Samrong costing about 52 billion baht – is scheduled on June 16.

On top of that, the company plans to purchase 288 carriages for mono- rail train – 120 carriages for the Yellow Line and 168 carriages for the Pink Line at a total cost of about 50 billion baht.

This is great news, I hope these two really happen, and in a, er,  "timely fashion".  The Pink and Yellow lines are a pretty important part of the "master plan," right up there with the Dark Red and the Orange lines.

The Pink Line will be very handy for Immigration at Chaengwattana.
