BANGKOK: -- His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on Monday has ordered members of his Royal Guards to join the public and government agencies in disposing garbage from klongs and sewers as a preventive measure against flooding in the city.

Army Commander-in-Chief General Chalermchai Sitthisart said Monday that he felt deeply grateful to HM the King for his concern toward the well-being of the people and for his kindness in letting members of the Royal Guards to assist in such civic work like unclogging klongs and sewers of garbage.

General Chalermchai has attached importance to addressing hardships of the people in localities through three channels – the Damrongtham centres, the provincial branch of the Internal Security Operations Command and the peace-keeping forces.

The Damrongtham centres have received 4,000-6,000 complaints each week and 90 percent of them have already been taken care of.
