Phra Pracha Kantaweero files complaint with police Tuesday.

NAN: -- The acting abbot of a temple in Nan was uninjured when a bullet was fired into the monastic office on Tuesday night.

Police said Phra Pracha Kantaweero has just entered the office at Wat Sriphanton in Mueang Nan’s Tambon Naiwieng at 9.30pm when the shot pierced a window and hit a concrete beam.

The monk told police he’d gone to the second-floor office to fetch his document briefcase before returning for the night to his own temple in Phupiang.

The monk suspected that the gunshot was meant to intimidate him. He said someone had written anonymously to the district monastic chief voicing opposition to his appointment as acting abbot.

Police planned to check whether CCTV surveillance cameras in the area had picked up the gunman.
