Cop who lost the plot in Khao San Road is "stressed" says station chief who gives him some time off

BANGKOK: -- A video of a man bearing a striking resemblance to a policeman going berserk yelling at members of the public has been confirmed as a cop attached to Chana Songkhram police. 

 

His station chief has asked for understanding as the well respected officer is going through a tough time with his wife amid all the pressures of his demanding job. 

 

The video of the officer's behavior on Saturday caused a storm on social media with many jumping on the bash the police bandwagon. 

 

The footage showed a man looking like he had been imbibing of some local spirit. He was pointing aggressively at people's faces and swearing all down the famous tourist strip. 

 

At one point he ran up to pick a verbal fight with a male member of the public and only the intervention of a good Samaritan prevented escalation. 

 

Two men with him tried to calm the situation and put him on their bike but he jumped off and started having an altercation with another man in the street. 

 

Chana Songkhram station chief Phitak Sutthikun said: "Yes, he is one of our own". 

 

He blamed stress for his officer's antics. 

 

"He is very serious about his job," explained Phitak,"and he does a great job. Everybody praises him all the time. 

 

"But such is his dedication to his duties that he has no time for his family which causes ructions with his better half at home. 

 

"Before this incident he had a big barney with his missus which only added to his stress at work. Unfortunately he was unable to  control his temper. 

 

"So some concerned colleagues decided to take him over to Khao San Road to calm him down. There he met some acquaintances of his wife and that set him off. 

 

"That is what you saw on the video clip," he claimed. 

 

Phitak continued: "He is a good man and usually doesn't touch a drop of liquor. Please be fair to him". 

 

The chief said that the officer will be given some leave to mend things with his wife and he has instructed some colleagues to help him out at this difficult time.

this is not the news.  when I was a kid........

the news guy only had 30 minutes.... and rarely ever showed emotional stuff and the "human element" in anything...

THIS "article" is nothing but the "human element".

 

BUT this kind of stuff I suspect ALSO keeps our eyes off the ball more and more.

the serious stuff is for folks who Need To Get A Life (which means read and joke about human element stuff more).... while what would have been facts are changed into nonsense and "fake news" which ("fake news") I really don't like that term at all... but not any less or more than the level of total nonsense we all spend too much time on now. 

and in today's 30 minutes news.... humans are 300,000 years old.... not 195,000.

This guy was a pissed up tool. He was still in half uniform (BiB trousers and shoes). 

This idiot would have had ready access to his gun, its fortunate he chose not to carry it, the situation could have otherwise been so much worse. 

 

His supervising officer has made a fundamental error in publicly backing up his junior. The only responsible response is to outline that this behavior is unacceptable and will be dealt with.

 

An argument with your girlfriend or wife is no excuse for such behavior. That someone in a position of power believes it to be an acceptable excuse is very telling of the true flaws in Thai society. 

 

Watch this space: Just like Anna Reese with her DUI antics, when someone is not adequately punished for their antisocial actions the learn they can 'get away with it repeatedly'... We may well hear more of this volatile and poisonous idiot in future.

Sounds like you do not understand responsibility, accountability and discipline either! I've not been a policeman but I did many years in the armed forces, where these behaviours were ingrained in us.

 

His 'personal problems' maybe the reason but they're NOT an excuse.

 

You should not bring your personal problems to work!
