The Provincial Police Bureau 9 and Hat Yai police have nabbed three suspects in two arrests and seized drugs worth Bt125 million.

The arrests were announced at the Hat Yai Police Station by Pol Lt-Colonel Sakhon Thongmanee, commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 9.

In the first case, police arrested Kraithong Phetmee, 28, a Sukhothai province resident, and Athiwat Chalermthai, 33, a Nakhon Sawan province resident.

Sakhon said the two were arrested while driving a pickup truck at the Airport intersection in Tambon Khuanlung in Songkhla province’s Hat Yai district. Police said they found 600,000 methaphetamine pills hidden in three tyres.

The drugs were worth Bt120 million, he added.

The two admitted that they were paid Bt50,000 to allegedly smuggle the drug from across the Mekong River in Nong Khai to a drug seller in Hat Yai. In another case, police arrested Phansak Kunanurak, 25, a Pattani resident, after police found 419.29 grams of crystal meth and 4,008 methamphetmine pills allegedly hidden in a house in Hat Yai.
