Use the search function and you'll find hundreds of posts on dozens of threads on the topic.  You'll usually find more useful information there than with a new thread because it's been done to death.

If it were me, I'd fly in unencumbered and either rent or buy a scooter for my time in country, then sell it or return the rental and fly out unencumbered.

Even if the temporary import is do-able, the cost of renting (or buying and reselling) a 2nd hand scooter will be less than the airfreight alone, never mind the nightmare of dealing with the customs people and getting it road legal.  (I may look into it further if I were in a bordering country, but not on the other side of the pond).

I know quite a few people that have done this, & with ease.

I have been here for a long time and have heard many stories of people trying to import there own bike. Most people later really regret that they tried to go this way instead of buying something here. If you know many people who have done it could you please explain how they did it? I am sure there are many people here who would like to know the easiest way to do bring there own bike.

I had the idea the OP wanted to know how-to "Temporary Import of Motorcycle" for a holiday or touring the country

I have just received an email back from Thai customs with the relevant application forms and process, I will get back to see how it goes, certainly from what they have explained it is not difficult, if you have everything in order.

So for temp import it has to be with a travel agency and you can only move around when accompanied by at least one of their staff... lol. On the back of the bike? Harley with sidecar?

That's where it gets confusing as one part says you have to be with an organised tour and registered tourism business, and the other part doesn't mention that at all, waiting to hear back from customs [emoji51]

You should also contact the (Thai) Department of Land Transport as they're in charge of legally riding on the public road. The Thai customs can help you legally entering Thailand. In most countries around the world if you pass customs you can ride around, but in Thailand you also need a permit from the Department of Road Transport... otherwise you're an ATM for every police officer...
