Soldiers led by Col Santi Sakuntanark, Commander of the 25th Infantry Regiment and the highest-ranking army officer stationed in Phuket, raided the Wake Up Club in Patong last Wednesday (June 7). Most were blown away by the preformance and took it in hand to arrest the performers. Im sure many of the Chinese tourists would have found it a bit stiff ! Lax enforcement of any laws over decades leads to a rampant sex industry, which is one of the main draws of Thailand, as a tourist destination. Then there is a crackdown, which of course doesn't work, because the police draw much of their pay from corruption. The justice system is rigged in such a way that corrupt police supply corrupt evidence to corrupt courts. And so it continues, as it has done and will be, as long as a mob of sheep, educated to be sheep, follow the leader, and the leader feeds the sheep-dogs well.
