Re-entry permit desks at Suvarnabhumi

Had a spare hour between flights and confirmed through the glass that the Re-entry desk is in Immigration Zone 2. I hit the check-in as soon as it opened at 8.30 AM. Plenty Chinese tour groups cluttering up the works so first recommendation to anyone needing extra time on departures is do an online or 'web' check in. Then you can avoid the conga line and go straight to bag drop. TBH, I had forgotten to do it the previous evening so did it on my smart phone while waiting for the check in to open.Plenty of free wi-fi at the airport. Of course if you are flying at the front of the bus, you already have faster check in privileges.

By 8:45, they had temporarily closed access to Hall 2 escalator as it was busy upstairs and were directing everyone to Hall 1. If you tell them you need a re-entry permit, they will lift the rope and let you go up. By 9.15, I had cleared security and was at the desk. Presented an already downloaded and completed form with picture attached. They charged 1000 baht for a single re-entry with the girl explaining that, "Next time no need for form or picture. I do everything and I charge you 1200 baht." So there's one in the eye for the the rip-off callers. If you DIY, you pay the same as at any immigration office, if you want their 'service' which means you do bugger all but sit on a chair after they take your picture, you pay the 200 baht extra. Sounds reasonable to me. There was a European family of 4 and a Japanese guy ahead of me so it took about 25 minutes in all.

By 9.45, I was in the airline lounge well ahead of my 10.30 boarding call for an on-time 11.20 departure.

I have used re-4ntry permits before but I have always used CW to get them. Never used the re-entry permit desk in either of the two Bangkok airports. It just is not my nature to wait for the

I used the re-entry permit desk at Swampy 2 weeks ago. Painless process no need for a photo as they use the same type of camera that immigration use when you enter Thailand. Takes a total of about 20

  • No, you need to provide a photo and cash in addition to a completed form. They will then take your passport away and stamp a reentry permit into it before returning it.

only 1,000 baht fro a single re entry, anyone one knows why?

is it because the ' convenience ' factor?...

Pay 1000 if you complete your own form and have your photo ready.

Does a 1 year multi-entry visa need a re-entry permit?

No it does not.

Travelling next month. Can anyone please confirm that the re-entry permit service is still operational and in the same place as above?

Cheers.

Still open and still in immigration zone 2 after security.

I'm very confused.

Up to 3 months ago I was flying out for work on a monthly basis for 16 months, and the Re-entry office was here:

Enter swampy departure hall from the road...walk past the check in counters to the back wall. Along the back wall on the left side is Thai international office and the Re-entry is near that. It is therefore BEFORE you either go up the escalators to the security check OR (you don't go up the escalators but) go through the PRIORITY departure to the security check.

But now I read it is AFTER security.

Confused.

It moved in December 2016.

Topic here about it.
