Dual Bay 3.5" + 2.5" Inch SATA III Hard Drive HDD & SSD Tray Caddy Internal Mobile Rack Enclosure Docking Station with USB 3.0 Port Hot Swap

Considering purchasing the above, but before I do I want to make sure it is compatible with my old computer, the Motherboard is a Gigabyte B85M-HD#-A (Socket 0).

Is there anything else I should confirm please?

I bought this similar model:-

Had problem with inserted drives being recognized by the computer. The computer would only recognize one of my 2.5 SSD drives and the 3.5 HDD was a bit hit and miss with recognition.

The 2xUSB ports worked well. Make sure your motherboard has a socket for the USB 3 connection

Finally purchased it, and am very pleased.

The key to get it to recognise the the hard disks with Win7 is to reboot.

Good to know you are please with your purchase.

I thought the idea of "Hot Swap" was you didn't have to mess about with all that re-boot stuff

I still have my unit (see above post) Only been used for one day. If any one wants it will send it for free just pay postage on delivery.

It depends on the BIOS of your motherboard and also your operating system.

I personally prefer to use this stand-alone USB3/eSata caddy:

Yep! I got one of those dual docking stations that works through USB port.

That's fine as far as it goes, I was looking for something that would let me slot drives in and out without any additional fuss.

Never mind I'll just live with what I got.

Mine works without any fuss. Plug in the drive, turn on the base, wait a few seconds for it to spin up and for Windows to mount it. That's it really. Always unmount the drive in Windows before turning it off and unplugging it.
