BANGKOK, 26 June 2017 (NNT) - The recently drafted reconciliation contract will be given public hearings in late June and early July, according to the Defense Ministry.

Defense Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich said today the unity agreement which was recently approved by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon will undergo minor changes as suggested by Gen Prawit himself and will be unveiled to the people in public hearings late this month and early July. Public forums will be held in Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phitsanulok, and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The agreement is centered on trust and understanding, Maj Gen Kongcheep said, adding that it's hoped the 3-page document will prevent social and political conflicts especially those triggered by hate speech.

Apart from hearing what the Thai public has to say, the forums are intended to clarify the content of the draft agreement.

The contract was written by three panels formed under the Gen Prawit-led reconciliation committee.

What happens if the public say they don't like it, don't want it and don't need it?
