Although The New romantic movement did begin in 1979 , with your very own Steve Strange and Visage and gained popularity a few years later with Spandau and Duran .

  So the New Romantic movement began in 1979, which, is part of the 1970's

giving you guys one of my top 5 performances, this was the last time crowded house played live (yes some small things long after) and I frequently play this it's one of my favourite videos. and for you DL as you seem to make my music choices seem as if I pick them for the topic of the forum but apart from a few they have been picked just for the music. 

 

 

watch the whole concert, Sidney Opera house their last concert - if time travel is invented in my lifetime I will be there ......

The last time I saw Sabbath was in Cardiff a few months before I moved to Thailand, Dio was singing and it was billed as Heaven & Hell tour 2. I saw them on tour 1. I walked out of the concert, the band wasn't loud enough plus boring - you should not be able to talk during a rock concert. I've worked in industry my whole life and protected my ears but that was disgusting. H&H 1 was at Sofia Gardens in Cardiff and the police & fire service decided there were too many people who had all genuine tickets to stop everyone going in. Sabbath played 2 concerts, i was in the 2nd one but nearly got arrested before the first for falling, drunk. when the crowd tried to get through the doors. H&H 1 was awesome.

Coverdale took my sister out when he was in the local band before he got the audition for Purple. She has never been the same since...

(I have another story too, but I'll have to check some details first.)

On the punk thing, it was exciting at the time, and not all were like The Pistols with little musical ability. I saw them the first gig they did after the Bill Grundy interview. (Leeds Town Hall? Not sure.)

Also went to the Marquee quite a bit when I moved to London in late '78.

Some really interesting memories gentlemen.

I forget how many times I saw Hawkwind, I was a big fan.

Glad you are too. Pink Fairy's I was back stage in '73.

I saw The Who the same year.

Curved Air I saw several times too.

Did you ever see Van der Graaf Generator?

 

But I was always 'just a drummer'...

It feels likes it's broken this morning but before that I could hardly walk, bend over and every movement was agony from joints especially my hip & back. Anyway I've got another tune to brighten your day from one of my favourite bands Tower of Power who I saw in the Fillmore West, San Fransisco in the 90's supported by The Average White Band. I discovered these the same time as Montrose as Warner Bros released a compilation album with them on it, see below had forgotten how much good music was on it. Same as Montrose I've done a live version & the album version from Back to Oakland, enjoy.

Your malady symptoms could result from a few things. I do suggest you consider the type of mattress, and how old it is before you spend loads on medical bills though.

Actually it was Gillan/Glover ! so must have been 73' or maybe earlier, will have to ask my brother, although like me he probably has vague recollections about that era ( he would have been around 17/18 at the time ).

I must admit to being sorely disappointed when Gillan and Glover left and found it hard to adapt to Coverdale/Hughes but realised later that they were more than worthy replacements.

As a musician, you would appreciate both the taxing strumming of the acoustic as well as the "I don't want the likes of the dark lord playing this" philosophy of His Excellency The Right Honourable and Most Awesome guitarist ever to live, David G's retuned guitar and complicated chord sequence on this masterpiece. To my eternal shame I will throw myself to the wolves here by admitting the Dmin first chord followed by the B flat min second , I can handle but the Adim4 has defeated me before returning to Bflat min7 (based on memory).  So much so that with my weakened wrists ( from too much time at sea) and my unruly and indisciplined collection of ten "Issan sausages" stuck on each of my paws, I defer to the bass on this song when crucifying it in my own manner. 

 

On an historic note Gilly was passed at Waters because waters insisted they were remunerated per song on the album and would not let Gilly publish the "you got to be crazy" in two parts ( which it so obviously was created to be) hence the meandering link between the t who parts. Waters, on the other hand somewhat arrogantly put in Pigs on the Wing as opening and closing songs ( fundamentally the same songs) as well as the three different ones ( pigs that is)

Well sand dude old friend, whilst you plead innocent of being gifted with the ability to pick both awesome tunes who carry appropriate titles, the jury is out.  You either have a hidden skill set that allows you to choose these pieces of gold without knowing or you are one who understates his amazing ability.

Speaking for myself but confident most of our brothers ( sisters and transgenders as we have now to be inclusive) in this thread agree, this new direction is bringing memories back from the time when dinosaurs roamed the earth ( well maybe not) the sun always shone on us and our chosen partners at the time were almost understandable.

Not so much left but was kicked out by the rest of the band allegedly due to their concern over his rather excessive use of his illegal substance of choice. Sadly Lemmie passed away fairly recently. Irrespective of if you appreciated his contribution to our music or not, he was one hell of a guy.

Reminds me of my first concert which was Status Quo. Had to beg my parents to let me purchase and don the statutory denims ( which I later sold in communist Russia for £50) and then whilst trying far too hard to appear cool and part of the long haired bunch of attendees in the pub before the concert ( again Hammersmith odeon as was) managed to barf up the best part of my fourth pint right over some of the cool guys. 

 

I was saved by the bell as the doors opened right about then. 

 

A most humiliating experience that i hat I have carried with me for XXX years and never spoken to anyone about. Though in my defence I was only about 13 at the time.

 

I hope that the recipient of my stomach contents on that momentous evening evening is not one of you fine people.....

Growing up in Northamptonshire and having a totally laid back "road plod" and an escort 1600 (actually 1710 with gas flowed head, high lift cam and a few extra tweaks under the bonnet) JPS special  at my command, I often took the lady of the time to the River cam to go punting with the intent of more darker activities for later in the day. En Route we would pass grantchester and I nearly always had that playing from my jury rigged cassette player as I tried to impress the lady of the day with my abundant knowledge of all things Floyd. 

 

Varying success levels were achieved over the few years of such activities. 

 

I recall, but might be wrong, that every summer, back then, had a blazing sun and clear blue cloudless skies. Our bodies were trim and bums tight ( sorry buttocks) our hair long ( well as long as our parents from a vastly different age would allow) and our expectations high. 

 

Were we wrong to be so innocent and full of dreams?

There is no puerile behaviour here maximal old chum, it may be that you are not fully with the programme here or even ( much to our possible envy) a tad too young. 

 

I can  assure you that from my experience with the brothers on this thread, ( my thread bros) there is not absolutely zero negativity but there is also zero tolerance for elves, trolls and the likes (gollum is accepted though) . 

 

My advice, shrug it off and put it down to the great learning experience we all continue to enjoy. Old Sandy dude is a good chap, on that I lay my reputation as an evil and dark s.o.b.
