PNSOC600702001005501.JPG

PATTANI, 3 July 2017 (NNT) - Pattani province has organized a mass ordination for Thai Sikhs of Indian descent in honor of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

At Wat Tani Nora Samoson in Mueang district, Pattani Governor Wiranan Phengchan on Sunday presided over the mass ordination ceremony jointly arranged by the Pattani monks, the provincial office of Buddhism and a committee on Royal Projects. The mass ordination is part of a project to help each Buddhist temple in the province to have five monks.

The monks will stay at Tani Nora Samson until the Buddhist Lent Day before leaving the temple to stay at other temples which have less than five monks. Some of them will leave the monkhood after Buddhist Lent and the rest after the Royal Cremation in October.

In Nakhon Pathom, Provincial Governor Adisak Thep-at presided over a ceremony to open a new building at La-eiat Upatham School in Don Tum district. The building was constructed with 700,000-baht donations from Thai Sikhs and Thai people of Indian descent.

    LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Yet another tourist died mysteriously on Koh Tao, south of Thailand

Yet again, the victim happened to be a young attractive female,  travelling alone. By official accounts, seven tourists have died on that island within the last three years. The most infamous of which was the brutal murder and rape of a British couple David Miller and Hannah Witheridge in September 2014.
