The deputy governor said that the on-site inspection aimed to set the guidelines for construction work before a construction permit was to be issued to Bangkok Observation Tower Foundation after the civil works office sought consultations from the City Hall regarding construction guidelines. He said that the project gone through environmental impacts assessment and the City Hall was awaiting the project design from the foundation. He also assured the Suvarnabhumi Muslim community which is close to the construction site would not be relocated during the construction period because most of the equipment and construction materials would be transported to the site by boat. biplanebluey
Sorry if this sounds a bit ignorant but can anybody tell me why we need an observation tower-------- like, what are they going to observe.By the look at the surroundings there won't be many birds around, and if there was you could not see them anyway half a mile in the air HaHa
timendres
There is no need for this building. It serves a few purposes. One, to funnel money to certain parties. Two, to provide a tourist/local "attraction" that will never make a profit. Three, to give Bangkok and Thailand a place in the "tallest buildings in the world" record book - a distinction that most governments strive for at some point. The interesting thing to note is that, almost without fail, a country setting a building height record presages a looming economic recession.
