Recommendations for US tax consultant bangkok

Am looking to change to a new tax consultant as the one I use is retiring,

I have looked threw the IRS for finding a tax professional overseas but only has 1 person listed in Bangkok, tried state department no luck, hunted threw Bangkok embassy website nothing as well, amcham has some listening but upon trying to verify name and companies nothing shows up, that goes back to state department or IRS. By the way found one name and sent email to IRS to verify if person is a enrolled agent, I know probably a waste of time as maybe no response

Any help would be appreciated as don't want to  deal with companies or people that can't be verified

Thanks

Below is something I saved from the US Embassy site a few years ago. I didn't use either one of them and have no idea if they're still in the business.

Btw, past few years I've been using a consultant based in the US. A competent one should be able to handle expat issues.

Is there some reason that the OP needs to be physically in the same room with his tax consultant?  If not, then why not look for a US tax specialist where they are plentiful and cheap, i.e. the US?  I assume most consultants would be familiar with both Skype and email.

Sometimes it helps to be able to look beseechingly into the eyes of the one person standing between you and an audit.

Did you ever figure how much you are paying for that dubious privilege?

If you are just looking for someone to prepare your annual tax return, you do not need someone in Bangkok. What you need is someone who has a lot of experience with expats. I did my research a few years ago, and interviewed a few people and companies until I decided on Taxes for Expats (look them up). I have been extremely satisfied every year. Even before I was a customer, the President emailed me personally and answered some of my tax questions regarding investments. They have a good relationship with the IRS and know what flys and doesn't fly with the IRS in those "grey" tax areas. It took me some adjustment since they are not here, but the fear was all in my head.

A tricky one indeed.... first you're doing the right thing in asking about...Well, you see the add on the web and the pop ups on FB.  That is good for checking rates.. they are close and in range of one another for basic returns and other requirements..... Some working arrangements can be 50% now and 50% when the job is done.  An issue that may pop up is ---time.  Do they process your work timely, do they respond to your messages, do you feel a level of customer service provided?    If something is promised, does it come through... These are guidelines to consider...

Best to call them, get a hold of a former client...
