All cars sold to Thais should be restricted to 30kph for the next 10 years.

Give them some time to develop.

Modern vehicles and infrastructure is just too much, too soon, for them.

Somehow, I don't think a 6 hour drive from BKK to Pattaya would be a welcome change for any expat caught in that traffic.  Regardless of how safe they felt.

OTOH, the new Pattaya- Hua Hin ferry would do a booming business.

Honda civic hatchback turbo bites the dust. Too many idiots on the road with too much cash.

the only redeeming thing about this is that the driver of the black car got exactly what he asked for! no tickets, no tea money, just a wrecked car! serves him right!

how the matter was resolved

200 baht fine and/or a donation to Secret Policeman's Ball....unless one/both drivers were farang - then that's a whole new ball game.

If, like mine, it was Thannachart, then they were cheerfully pay out huge sums in compensation to two licenceless, underage, speeding boys who lost control and crashed into my stationery car.

And that is the reason good drivers who don't make claims have big premiums! We pay for the stupidity of others.

In this case the stupidity was Thannachart Insurance Company.  Why would they pay out to two offenders AFTER paying for their medical treatment?  It's just bought them a more powerful bike.

Very often, they will try to pin the blame (or at least share it) for an accident on the one with more insurance....rather than trying to make poor people poorer/end up in jail.

Thai roads and their driving skills are also amazing.
