If a guy who "allegedly" killed a policeman can scoot on through immigration un challenged, pretty sure you can....

She is trying her luck.. Unless she pays the police a tidy amount to get some action, they couldn't care less even if you did take the gold !!

And to add to this, let me recommend that you spend a little, probably not much and chat with an attorney (maybe 2 or 3)........... find out the real answer......

Here on TV we all want to help you but with good intent we could steer you wrong........

On ThaiVisa recently I've been reading a lot about suing in court over 'defamation' (of character) so you might inquire about that or at least us it as a counter-threat to her..........

I have a long history in Thailand and knew many Thai wives of friends who threatened all kinds of things to try 'to win'.......... never able to carry out any threats.......... You are 'lucky' to find out her true color now that later........

Morons... Usually i'd expect Thais get a pass on stuff like this but as those in the frame here are wed to foreigners they'll be fair game for a proper shakedown that'll help justify the raid. Sigh ?

Yes........... The 'new man' you mention is such a 'high probability'.........

And the gold missing when returning home may very well have been done before leaving on that trip by the wife without his knowledge.........

Short while ago I stayed for 3 months in Thailand trying to salvage a familysituation which involved 3 kids. In those months I have received similar threats as you. However not related to theft. The fact that the mother of our children had the audacity to threaten, intimidate and bully me, father of our children, was quite shocking to experience. Add to that that life means nothing here, discrimination is rife and police is laughing at you when you report it, then one feels quite disheartened. As I could not change anything anymore, at the time, in relation to my kids, I left.

Looking back on the events I can conclude though that the threats were most likely hollow and should have been taken with a grain of salt. However ?

I think your missus is a woman who only likes to be in control and that at the moment she believes she loses it, starts to make threats. If I were you just leave her, she has shown her true colours and it will not get any better. Opposite in fact.

I sympathize about your children. My experiences is that Thai women, what ever their background, can be very control minded, self centered and will use bullying and any kind of emotional blackmail to try and get their own way. This can be bouts of sulking, sourness, spitefulness, silence or become more aggressive dependent on the situation context. If they feel threatened i.e. they are losing control, or will loose something because you will take it away then they can indeed turn extreme and even violent.

It's a shorter fuse here than many are used to from their own country; added to the vast importance of face; the propensity for lies and the non importance of truth, and the "can't ever do or be wrong" mentality it's a volatile mixture.

Threats are often hollow but can gain substance if the person making them perceives control is slipping or doesn't like the way things are going.

Just my experience, but over a lengthy period and with Thais married to a variety of nationalities.

Thanks for the fast reply. Is it common in Thailand to accuse someone like this just to get your own way? False police reports are not empty threats me thinks. :(

It's a common tactic here and in the USA, for women. I tend to avoid trouble making women...but in the land of smiles, I've seen female teachers, govt. workers, army officers, and doctors falsely accuse their boyfriends and husbands of rape, theft, assault, and lese majeste.  All because the women "loved" their partners so much that they could not bear being divorced or separated. Divorce her ASAP, if you can. If not, make a new will and get the f@#k away from her asap.

If she really made a report against you to the police, they would stand already on the same day or 2-3 days later on your mat.

And the police will tell you if you can't left the country. Passport away, bail, ....

If no one come to you, she just tell you BS!!!

And if she made a false report, you can sue she.

Don't worry. :-)

Thai women can go crazy bat Shit over the slightest thing. I don't think you have to leave Thailand unless you want to. Just go to another city. She will never find you. For all she knows you left the country.

Wish that you leave her definitively and send her back to her rice farm. How can a women dare to do this without being scared to the consequences that she will have to face.

I do not know the poster or his wife.

I read the story and sofar all the replies and all with the same outcome bad Thai lady.

Why is it always bad Thai lady, the OP could just try to get away with something he did and just want support.

He says he did not steal the gold, nice to read but did he steal it or not.

How did he treat his wife, why are they seperated and only communication by e-mail?

Did she caught him making love with another bar girl or ladyboy?

Who knows. Only themselves.

Sorry I can not give any advice on what you have to do, this because I do not know what happend and what is the truth.

Instead of wasting time asking for opinion no one on here can give beacuse none of us know you or your wife. What your asking is in reality your buisness something only you and your Mrs knows.

Go now leave the country. Instead of looking for advise as all you will get is normal wife bashing quotes.

Wife bashing? I would think farang husband bashing is more in order.

I am saying you are the fool if you do not get to know someone very well before you enter a relationship with them. Look at all the sad stories of farangs with local wives--most of the women and the men have changed only in looks. Yes, I too know divorce, been divorced twice, still friends with both of them. We divorced because our ideas for the future changed, not because they turned out to be loonies.  You need to be smarter than the problem, if you are not, then there you are.

But for most it might be difficult to find a good one in a bar...

One thing baffles me since 16 years I'm staying here. Why you guys marry your hookers? Would you marry a hooker in your home country?

(I never would marry ANY girl, I just use them)

Is it the warm weather which drives you do insane things?

Like buying land and homes here Looooooooooool

And even she is not , why on earth marry a thai ?

Do you even speak their language (thai) perfectly fine to communicate properly?

Most don't, so what's the point ???

I think better study the language some years and stray around. And if you found your "Love" go study SHE a couple of years before MARRY for LIFE.

Better to speak Thai anyway because then the stunners come alone [emoji14]

They not even like falang , they are the bottom of of society in Lieland.

Yes.... This suggestion is a real possibility..........

You say: "Why is it always bad Thai lady"........ It isn't 'always'.......nor even high percentage...... That is just your interpretation........

Nobody here has claimed that it's always a bad Thai lady (maybe a couple came a bit close), but there have been a number of factual 'personal experiences' with bad Thai ladies offered by some posters..........

You said: "Sorry I can not give any advice on what you have to do"....... That was your option all along...... None of us had to reply........ But many of us did have some personal experience to share...... If it helps the OP then 'great', If not we wasted our time (and many of us here on TV have the time to waste).......

In reality, In Thailand there are many, many, 'more' good ladies than the 'bad'..... I can offer many examples after over 30 years experience with Thailand and I will say that percentage wise the 'good' ladies are magnificent and are doing a 'good' job of caring for 'so many' farangs who can't find similar ladies in their own countries..... example, 20-30-40 year old ladies walking down the street holding hands with a 60-70-80 year old farang........ And these ladies take wonderful care of those farangs ------ as in my own case.......

So in closing I will say that the 'bad' Thai ladies posted here are just 'the few' BAD APPLES in a 'big barrel of apples.......

Well, isn't that an open-minded response. So sorry that civility between separating spouses is so foreign to you.

Yes, I would say we did make mistakes, but in both cases we handled it like adults and got an amicable divorce.  My wife and I are still friends with both my ex-wives. No hatred, no malice, no trying to hurt the other; gee go figure.

The gold is most likely in the local porn shop. When you get back try to check he bag for receipts as she will have to pay them monthly if she wants to get it back. They often take half the value, and when they have enough cash they redeem it.

I agree that the police will take her story with a pinch of salt and unless she "persuades" them will not do anything more than file the report.

This woman is going to be trouble from now on...

Consider your position very carefully.
