Thai Royal Silk Waiting Lounge

Featured Replies

There was a discussion about the "arrival lounge" at Suvarnabhumi in another thread.

I just arrived with TG domestic in business class, and are now sitting in this so called "Waiting Lounge" waiting that the checkin counter to open for an international flight. This lounge is located between Domestic Departures and TG International First/Business class checkin rows.

Nice good seats, but no refreshments or toilets. No free Wi-Fi, so I use GPRS/EDGE.

Boring place, but now I have seen it....

AFAIK, that is not one of THAI's official lounges. It is not shown on their map of TG lounges. It is just a waiting area. And it certainly is not the arrival lounge that I was referring to in the other thread. The area you mention has been open since the official opening of the airport last September and is closed at night. It was open all night on opening day of the airport, and had people sleeping all over the place, dirty shoes up on the seats, etc. But they quickly put an end to that and now it is only open during the hours that TG's counters and customer service center are open. As you say, no food/drinks etc., so I doesn't really qualify as a true lounge. The official arrival lounge is on Level 2, the arrival level, to the far right (right for someone arriving and going through one of the three gates, A, B, or C) of the arrival hall. AFAIK, it is not yet open, or could possibly have just opened. I will try to check on it's status tomorrow morning when I go through BKK. The official arrival lounge is supposed to have showers and I believe internet terminals, plus I'd assume the usual assortment of food/snacks/drinks and looks to be a normal business-class lounge, albeit quite small as I don't think they're expecting very many TG passengers to want to use it. It is basically there for business/first class passengers to wait for their ride to their hotel or other destination, or to freshen up before exiting the airport.

Recently had to fly from Phuket to Issan on urgent family affairs and caught last flight out of Phuket with early morning connection in BKK.

As we had our child with us and we had to overnight for 6 hours+ I asked if there was any lounge where the boy could sleep in. Told the answer was no! We ended up in the Sky lounge bar where I drank all night just so as my son could sleep. :o

I Had a laptop with me so tried to get onto WiFi.

Needed a Name and Password for AOT network. Out of boredom I typed in "test" twice and it worked! Had a 2m download which is unheard of in Phuket. Spent the night watching videos on youtube.

With reference to T.G business lounge is it open yet. I arrive from HKG at midnight and fly out Thai domestic Khon kean 0645 morning is there a Thai business lounge I can use before check in . if not when do the Thai domestic check in desks open . also any more useful info on comfort area before check in would be appreciated

TG call this the "Royal Orchid Premium Area". It's on level 4, landside, adjacent to check-in row 1.

When the Royal Orchid Arrival Lounge opens it will be on level 2.
