webfact Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Don Mueang Airport flyover closed ahead of construction work By The Nation BANGKOK: -- The Highways Department has temporarily closed the highway flyover to Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport's international terminal to assess the impact of the flyover’s upcoming closure so construction work can be carried out. The flyover will reopen on Thursday. The construction work, slated for completion a year, will involve expanding the highway to three lanes and creating a new flyover entrance. The flyover on the outbound lane of Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, at kilometre marker 24+279, is notorious for traffic congestion due to its bottleneck design. With the flyover closed, travellers are advised to get to the airport at least three hours prior to their flight’s departure time while motorists were advised to use alternative entry points to the airport, such as via the Don Muang Cargo Terminal or the Royal Thai Air Force's U-turn flyover. Further information can be obtained via the airport's public relations centre at 0 2535 1192 or via the Highways Department's hotline 1586. jippytum Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 This will create havoc for travelers arriving by road .I wonder by how much it will increase the airport shuttle journey time from swampy and vise versa.
