Vacuum cleaner head sticking to the tiles

Recommended Posts

Bought a barrel pull along vacuum cleaner today. Pretty powerful at 2100 watt. Has wheels on the back of the head and drop down brushes...but unless I turn the power right down its very difficult to push around as the suction head is sucking onto the tiles.

Anyone experienced the same thing or have a fix?

Cut a 'shunt' into the vacuum wand. Cut a small rectangle out of the hard plastic wand and then reconnect it with a hinge. When you want to do the bare floors open the shunt which will decrease the vacuum enough to allow use. When you want full power close the hatch for sucking up things that spilled out on the floor like flour, grains, etc etc.

You do have the brushes down for doing the tiles don't you?

Yeah I do crossy. I wish it had little wheels on the front of it too but I guess essentially vacuum cleaners are designed for carpet. I've always had uprights. Would be a lot better on tiles I reckon. Might go back to my straw broom :-(

Who owns a vacuum cleaner in Thailand? Star bucks dont....and they have carpet in there lounge area at T21....

Something wrong with your machine if its doing that on tiles....Good idea take it back get a refund and get urself a electric sweeper they can be set to sweep each day automatically all you have to do is clean it regular...seen one at B2B or what ever there called ...the stationary people who sell everything they have a glass one to...

Must be generating a very powerful vacuum effect. The main head (wet and dry cleaner) has wheels and brushes but with a gap in between the brush heads which presumably is to help it to not stick on flat surfaces.

Mind you it is only 1600W so perhaps the OP's needs to be at a reduced setting on the flat?

Yes it's 2200w which is super powerful...and I can reduce it where it's not sticking too much. All the same I wish it had wheels front and back to push it around smoothly

All in all I've come to the conclusion that a straw broom is a lot faster and more efficient and I've wasted my money on a vacuum cleaner

Well fair play for admitting the error many have wasted cash on stuff and you have solved it anyway so the mistake has value and the vacuum can be boxed up maybe and used for a gift one day which I am sure will please someone.
