PATTAYA: -- At 3:00am on August 27th, Pattaya police continued the bar raids in Pattaya, this time it was the turn of Oskar Karaoke Bar.

Police had earlier received reports from locals in the area who had been having problems with the bar playing loud music well into the early hours from some time now, causing loss of sleep as well as other issues.

Police made their way down to the bar, and were able to confirm the reports. Inside was a mix of Thai men and tomboys working, as well as a handful of young female customers.

Blame the late opening on the clock on the wall .....sorted!

"Police had earlier received reports from locals in the area who had been having problems with the bar playing loud music well into the early hours from some time now, causing loss of sleep..."

Yes, that's why people go to Pattaya for: getting tucked in at 8 p.m. (and swimming in sewage). Guess, Pattaya will be a sleepy town soon, with many vacant hotels...

A veritable Petri dish of the Pattaya sub-culture, eh?

I doubt very much that people were complaining about music played at 8pm. The report mentions well into the early hours, and not everyone in Pattaya is a tourist. Some of the people in Pattaya actually have to get up early and go to work, some of them even to service the tourists.

You'd be surprised how it works. Thais can make all the noise they like any time of the day and night and usually get away with it, but try to keep an early-to-bed Thai person awake after 9 pm and there's hell to pay, especially if a foreigner is the guilty party.

Will be interesting to see if this current campaign/crackdown on the underbelly of Pattaya takes a break from November thru January.......

And quite a lot of those get up late to go to work...... fortunately sleep the sleep of the dead.

Sure wish there were more pictures to this story. I've stayed in hotels that have this noise pollution on their North side rooms, never again. It is only from 2AM til 7AM but that is the time I sleep.
