  1. Wrong - State pension (not govt. pension which is different) is specifically excluded from the UK/Thai DTA. Been mentioned loads of times - please keep up.........
  2. Yes a not inconsequential amount.............especially if currently paying zero.......
  3. Well you could do what you said you did - bend over and offer it all to the Thai taxman........ Which was fine for you as if the amount you mentioned is correct it was negligible. Or as we should all be doing which is wait for hopefully some clarification in our favour but have other options planned which is what @retarius outlined. Everyone will be different.
  4. You both seem to be ignoring the fact that the UK/Thai DTA specifically excludes pensions other than govt/civil service....... So in theory, under the agreement, you could be taxed twice........ Not saying that will happen but no point in wearing blinkers. Anybody from the UK with offshore (non-taxed) income could be hit with a sizeable tax amount depending on transfer amount........(sizeable being relative to zero currently).
  5. genuinely curious - do you mean when the ip address shows from a location that is a commercially known potential hub of a vpn server? Or are you saying that you can actually identify the original ip address location so basically invalidating the use of a vpn and is this with all or just the less secure vpns? Or some sort of cookie/script function?
  6. Why don't you (or get someone else) to ring their help line and ask them? As you are probably aware the app has to be set up initially using mobile data from within Thailand and after that there should not be an issue just using WiFi in the same device. I set up my app in a brand new phone and subsequently removed the sim and have been using it simless on WiFi at home for the last 3 months without a problem - all be it I am in Thailand. Other posters seem to be able to use WiFi abroad so I do not really understand why you could not. If you reset the phone/deleted and reinstalled the app or similar than you would have to start the process from scratch again for which I believe you would need to be in Thailand.
  7. You have never been to the Jomtien tax office then....... Admittedly I stopped a couple of years ago but before that was the opposite of your experience all be it I was only claiming refunds on withheld bank interest.
  8. Sorry you had such a bad experience but does not mirror mine with some dentists in Pattaya. The one I use now, after pulling a tooth and after I said what about the gap, he just said you can leave it no problem. He does implants and the like but never known him to do unnecessary work. He is so busy I guess he does not need to. Many posters on here recommended him which is why I ended up there after a previous dentist moved.
  9. Please correct me if wrong but my understanding that the online process is in Thai only? I think even the paper record is Thai only (certainly was to reclaim tax withheld on bank interest). If so how many foreigners will be able to circumnavigate the forms even with the help of a significant other...........
  10. You seem to be forgetting that this comes into effect from 1/01/24 which means the effect will not be seen until your tax return some time in the first quarter of 2025
  11. Post a picture. I am sure someone on here will have the same.
  12. But the OP was specifically asking about Android............
  13. Boy Sound on Suk southbound after the 36 and before the Mitsu dealership can do it but check cost first. There is (or was?) a car audio place on 3rd Road south bound side roughly opposite soi 21 or close to there (before Double Kiss) that should be able to help.
  14. Seems to be a fairly general consensus but as already stated we all still await clarification. There is a huge (over 90 pages in the news forum) thread going into everyone's interpretation and rehashing every argument 10 times over if you are bored.
  15. I'm a Brit and not sure what you are referring to? If pension freeze than that's specific to certain countries - not all as you are well aware.
  16. Depending on your specific circumstances the cost of doing that may be more than paying the tax in the first place.......unfortunately as nobody knows precisely how this is going to work yet it is difficult to plan properly.
  17. Have a read of this which is recent - https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/experts/article-12611045/Avoid-inheritance-tax-moved-Australia.html?ico=mol_desktop_money-newtab&molReferrerUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymail.co.uk%2Fmoney%2Findex.html However from what I have read in the past HMRC will not give a definitive answer until after you have shuffled off your mortal coil...........
  18. Thank you for persevering trying to post the detailed contact info - I saw it for a second before it was removed...... It is good to have had a rec for that company as some of the early posts in this thread were from someone who works for them...........think a card game........
  19. Not in this thread unless I need glasses again?
  20. So can you post details please?
  21. Which is not receiving an OTP - so that statement you made earlier is definitely incorrect. Balance replies are not OTPs........
  22. I don't understand your response. Posters regularly publish names and phone numbers of A/C suppliers/servicing etc. I have, and others, posted details of a lawyer in Pattaya for notarising documents several times in the past. If you have found what you consider to be a good rec for a legal service than please potentially help many others by posting here. If for some reason forum rules have changed that much I am sure a mod will come along and correct.....( @blackcab ?)
  23. AIS sim last renewed about 3 years ago and even though my phone is rooted I have the same appearing in my list of system apps - not in the app drawer as a regular app. It only has permissions for SMS. Under Apps and Notifications there is a heading for Emergency Alerts with settings to Allow or not and what level of alert to allow plus some other settings - IE different to 007 Red list above who probably has a more recent version of Android. Even though rooted I cannot remove/disable from the app settings.
  24. You make it sound so simple..... In practice for many the tax years and filing dates are completely different with potential fines for late payment. Most importantly not all DTAs are equal so not necessarily the case. Until they clarify how it will work we are all just venting
