  1. I get all new fresh water pipes. And I told them I want the drainage pipes tested. But this is not yet in the contract. Do you know anybody who does such testing in Bangkok and how much it costs? Thanks for the reminder.
  2. In the hindsight I am happy that I was too shy or too stupid or whatever at that time. When I see now a picture of the people from my school 30 years later I think: they are all so old. Imagine I would have married one of those women, even the prettiest of them. Oh no! Good luck I discovered Thailand later in my life.
  3. When I think about my own 18 year old self a couple of things come to my mind which are personal and don't make much sense for other people. For other 18 year old people I would suggest: Discover life! Find out what you really want. Which work do you like or don't like? Where do you want to live? Which people are an inspiration for you? Don't just study and follow a career path and later find out that this is not really what you like. And if you live in a cold country with lots of ugly women maybe think about moving to a warmer place with pretty girls. Carpe diem
  4. If she doesn't love you then obviously you shouldn't pay. And those threads are pathetic. Why would she want to get paid by a handsome hunk like you? Relax, enjoy your holiday. Likely it will be most exiting time which you had in your whole life. Enjoy! In the meantime I will watch the news about incidents in Koh Chang. ????
  5. Sure, you can have one scanner brand for multiple OS. But what for? When was the last time your phone was infected by a virus? If you think you are so smart then maybe you shouldn't write a BS reply.
  6. No! Forget about any virus scanner for mobile phones. Viruses for Windows work different then viruses for phones. You could try to execute a Windows virus on your phone and nothing would happen.
  7. You must be one of the rare people who understand Thai logic. With higher educated Thais there is of course some logic. But with people in low paid jobs most of us have difficulties to understand the. And, as I mentioned above, it seems many workers don't know themselves what they want and will do in a few weeks time. How can anybody predict what they will do if they don't even know themselves?
  8. Thanks for the information. First I will try a dust collector. When I watched the video above I thought it is interesting to see how meticulous they clean those holes. It's good to know that that is very important. I will use the bolts if it doesn't matter if the bolt are out and not used, i.e. in the ceiling. But in other places, i.e. in the floor, I don't want any bolts sticking out. I bought these a few days ago and they arrived already. First impression: good. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i2522078619-s8960833216.html
  9. Yes, that is what I learned already (in part). She is the most important person in that chain. And I assured her already: Whatever I see, I will only talk to her, my project manager. Then she will talk to the contractor and the contractor will talk to the workers or the subcontractor. I know that if I talk directly to the workers then that will best case not work and more likely will make the situation more difficult. The good thing is that my project manager does this since years, including with "my" contractor. Likely I will sign the contract in the next days. And then lets look how fast I see something which upsets me. Luckily I am long enough in Thailand that my expectations are somehow reasonable - at least I think so. Let's see...
  10. I will talk to my project manager tomorrow. And additionally to that I thought I ask the community here. That is why I asked. I think if most problems show within 6 months then 6 months warranty should be long enough. Longer is obviously better. But if 6 months is usual in Thailand (which I don't know) then it's difficult to insist on one year.
  11. Nobody pretends that all other investments are fine.
  12. You are one of the people who love to talk about crypto. But it seems you don't want to talk about the risks. You could just keep your knowledge for yourself like behind a closed door. But that is obviously not what you want. If you shout in the lobby then don't be surprised if others react.
  13. Thanks for your answers to the not asked question. I tried to make it clear that my question is about the warranty time and not about what can go wrong if the contractor doesn't care about the contract he signed. Let's start with the beginning: How much warranty time is necessary and usual in Thailand?
  14. What a wonderful logic. Pick the perfect date to buy and the perfect date to sell and all if perfect - in hindsight. Nobody said it's impossible to make money with crypto. Lots of people made money when it started. But then lots of people lost a lot when they invested at the wrong time. And why did they invest? Because all those crypto "experts" dreamed that crypto will go up - to the moon. It would be funny except for those people who believed those stories and lost a lot.
  15. I know that some people lost 100% when they thought their money is stable in stable coins. But I guess crypto boys don't want to hear those little annoying facts.
  16. Sure. It's also possible to win in the lottery. There is always a risk.
  17. I just read the contract from the contractor who is supposed to renovate my condo. If all is ok I plan to sign it next week. Currently the contractor writes about 6 months warranty after the work is completed. Is that the usual amount of time? Is it reasonable? I guess with many problems they will be visible right away, or soon, like a water leak or something like that. But how about floor and wall tiles? If the tiles are not installed according to standard will they be lose within 6 months? Or is it more likely that problems would show later? What other areas may seem ok at the beginning and show only after many months or every years problems which are related to the construction work? I know that having warranty and actually get it fixed for free is not the same. For this thread I prefer that we concentrate on what should be the warranty time. How many months do you think makes sense and is fair?
  18. It's always a good idea to have an idea about the local laws wherever you go. I read about similar cases of what you describe within the USA with different ages of consent in different states. I think in one state it was 20. Sex with a 19 year old was illegal...
  19. How is what? He is still trying to convince others to put money into crypto so that he can take his money out without losing too much. Maybe he even dreams about making some money.
  20. I don't know about the details what Singapore does and I don't really care. I don't take drugs and I don't go to Singapore. But it's us to them. Some countries have laws which apply for their citizens even if the citizens are in another county. Nobody asks us directly if we like those laws or want those laws. But if they exist and if they might be in conflict of what we want to do then it's a good idea to keep them in mind and possibly obey those laws. Or accept the possible consequences.
  21. And what happens if you missed the tweet of that Tesla guy? Then you look at the chart and see what you should have done.
  22. The noise and the charts depend on each other - if you want it or not. And as an investor it is definitely a good idea to listen to the noise.
  23. Not long ago I read an article about successful influencers who are now hired by crypto companies to spread/invent good news. They had fancy titles like chief analysts or something like that. But the job description was to tell everybody all is perfect and will get better. With people like that it's not surprising that the "expert predictions" often fail.
  24. My not so public opinion is that it will go down. My reasoning is that there are often news that some crypto company went bankrupt or they were hacked or something like that. With news like that possible new investors have a huge barrier to go into crypto. Some time ago there was also news that some people made big money in crypto, and people took risks to win, even if they knew there are no small risk to go down. But now it seems to me, someone who never invested in crypto, bad and bad. Bankrupt companies and no news that people make big money. So why should anybody invest under such condition? And, as far as I see, without many new investors crypto is dead. Just my two cents.
