I have 2 meters on my property. 1 is a 15\45 for house use and between February 23 to August 24 the highest usage I had was 240 units (only one month. Most months it was under 200 units. The other meter is 5\15 and is only powering 1 small structure and a gate to the property. The highest rating for the same period was 20 units. With such low usage I can't see how a solar system will be worthwhile. However, since we do have an unstable electric supply with many short blackouts (mostly just off\on, sometimes an hour, but sometimes it can last few hours) and changes in current I would like to install a backup battery for the whole house and maybe even include the other structure. We don't have a\c. The highest power consumers are the water heater (2x max of 6kw), an oven (max about 3.5kw), fridge (not sure how many KW). We also have a pressure water pump that starts every time we open a water tap and a deep well pump that kicks in every few days in rainy season and could be more often in the dry season (irrigation). If I were to install a backup battery I'd want ALL to be connected. Whomever I asked about such a system tells me I should go full solar, or that it can't be done without the solar panel so I can't get a straight answer as to the type\size of the inverter\batteries I would need. Would appreciate any info, specs and price for such a backup system.

100ml of shampoo and 100ml of liquid soap in my carry on bag. I once had a nearly empty aftershave lotion bottle and and another nearly empty cream container - both containers were in a capacity of more than 100ml so both were thrown away. All detected by the x-ray machine.

Have you ever heard or read about such an incident?

Can't remember the last time I had to remove liquids from my bags in Thailand or any other airport I've been to in the last few years. The laptop yes, at every airport I've been to.

That's not the point... If memory serves, a few years back a terrorist tried to board a plane with a couple of bottles with some liquid in the UK. It appeared to have been 2 chemicals that when combined can explode. That's when the 100ml limit came to be. It is a stupid rule but for some reason most countries still enforce it. And true, alcohol can be ignited, but it's gonna be difficult for anyone to soak enough seats and set them on fire without being stopped by passengers and crew members. And BTW - air India confiscate all lighters and matches at the gate before boarding.

You can take 5 gallons of water if you buy it in the sterile zone, after security check, just like the 2l brandy...

As a rule of thumb 4x4 vehicles out of the dealership are only good for very mild off road trips. The absolute minimum you need is A\T (all terrain) tires if you want to get to places 2x4 can't. If you want to do more rough trails you should probably lift the car and put on larger wheels - I'd say at least 32". For extreme trails you'll need even larger wheels and better use offroad tires suck as extreme terrain or mud terrain tires, and other equipment such as winch. Another rule is never go on rough\extreme trails alone. You should have at least one more vehicle with you, and much better to go in a group. A few years ago I was into 4x4 trips. Was a member of 2 groups - 1 small group of amateur but well equipped guys, the other group led by a professional 4x4 modifier with lots of experience, tools and equipment. When I first fitted my car I put on 32" jungle terrain tires. At that time most members used 31" tires so it was much easier for me to pass difficult places than it was for them. After a break from traveling I joined another trip, but by then all other member installed 34" wheels and I got stuck many times in places they passed with no effort. I actually broke both front and back axes and had to be towed all the way back to BKK... I then lifted my vehicle some more and put on 34" extreme terrain tires. Anyway, good luck and have fun 👍

Thai doctor vows to create "Hitler Room" to gas hospital smokers

Might add vehicle\forest fires\burning smoke as well while you're at it. What a stupid idea. Just proves that neither a high military rank not a Dr degree are signs of wisdom. Not even commonsense! -
I read before that the fine powder that collects at the bottom of the grinder is very strong. Tried once to mix it into a joint but didn't feel anything (I smoke pure herb, no tobacco). So how do you use it??

Illegal Austrian Tour Guide Arrested on Pha Ngan Island
LukKrueng replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
A few years ago I met a couple of tourists that have just finished a 1 day tour with a foreigner guide. I can't remember all the bs info that guide fed them (a lot...) but 1 "fact" I remember. According to that "guide" Thai people who do not reside in Bangkok must apply for a special permit (visa) to enter Bangkok. So there was no "bloken inglit" as he spoke their native language. I guess for some people that's good enough... -
You're not supposed to, but it is possible. Most of my Schengen visa applications were made at an embassy which was most convenient for me at the time of application, many times art embassies of countries that were not on the travel plans. For the latest trip a couple of years ago I had to apply through VFS. Tried applying to country 1. VSF staff told me I'm missing a document I couldn't get (something irrelevant regarding COVID even though it was after all COVID restrictions were lifted). So I then told them I want to apply for country 2 for which I didn't need that COVID document. Got the visa and then flew to country 3 which was my original plans destination. Upon arrival to country 3 I was asked by the IO why I applied for a visa for country 2 and came directly to country 3.i just said I changed my plans and was stamped in.

Gosh I missed those posts. Some nice changes to the usual sick buffalo (sick brother that ate all her holiday time). As for the nurse uniform - there used to be a bar in lower sukumvith that had all sort of uniforms you could ask your girl to wear for your encounter. The specialty of that place was the back door entry option (not bar back door entrance, you know what I mean, right?). Anyway, good luck to the op. You have to make sure you go to the right pier for the ferry to Pattaya and get there on time as there are not many ferries going there...

American man arrested for allegedly abusing 14-year-old Thai student

Not sure how it works usually, but I think there should be a trial first, then conviction and only then sentencing. Yet so many on AN already sentenced him.... -
American man arrested for allegedly abusing 14-year-old Thai student

Another strange point - the incident allegedly happened on February 16th, the mother found out on March 16th and the arrest on September 3rd... Something's not right here -
Social media uproar over 1,500 baht police fee for minor accident
LukKrueng replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Why would you report to the police at all? Minor accident, no injuries - just call your insurance and have them take care of everything!
